Nicole Dutton led SDSU with 11th-place finish in platform competition

January 14, 2018 (Los Angeles) - Six divers from the San Diego State swimming and diving team concluded competition at the Bruin Invite on Saturday in platform competition. The final event of the Bruin Invite featured 49 divers from 13 different teams.

After Alexandra Caplan led SDSU in both 1-meter and 3-meter competition on Friday and Saturday, fellow senior Nicole Dutton led the Aztecs in platform action on Sunday, reaching the finals and finishing 11th overall with a final score of 421.60.

Caplan had the second-highest score for the Aztecs, finishing in 22nd in the preliminary round with a score of 204.80. A trio of Aztec underclassmen in Delaney Gallagher, Emily Reed and Erica Sarver finished 33rd, 34th, and 35th, respectively, with scores of 180.65, 176.25, and 175.95.

Marie Yacopino rounded out the Aztec scores with a 165.40.

The SDSU swimming and diving team concludes the 2017-18 regular season this Friday, Jan. 19, at home against San Diego. The Aztecs then look towards the 2017-18 Mountain West Conference Championships in San Antonio, Texas, from Feb. 14 – 16, where SDSU has had a top-3 finish in each of the last eight seasons.
