December 19, 2023 (San Diego) - The San Diego State swim and dive program opened its 2023-24 home schedule in style Tuesday with a 128-120 triumph over Mountain West rival Air Force in a dual meet at Aztec Aquaplex.

The Aztecs registered the fastest time in all 14 swim events, winning nine to claim their 11th straight victory against the Falcons and keep their record unblemished at 6-0 on the season.

Evonne Stehr captured two event titles that counted towards the Scarlet and Black’s team score, while Christiana Williams, Reka Nyiradi and Alex Roberts also won a pair of individual races, highlighting a balanced result sheet that featured additional victories from Summer West, Avery Turney, Meredith Smithbaker, Alyssa Schiller and Paige Mitchell.

SDSU took control from the outset, grabbing the top two spots in the 200 medley relay, where the combo of Stehr, Moa Bergdahl, Roberts and Smithbaker touched the wall with a winning time of 1:44.12, while the team of Riley Tapley, Williams, Rachel Hubka and Schiller finished a close second after clocking in at 1:44.91.

The Aztecs kept the momentum rolling in the 1,000 freestyle, where West took home the crown thanks to her effort of 10:30.87, followed by Mitchell, who placed second at 10:35.22, both of which marked season-fast swims.
