November 25, 2017 (Bimini, Bahamas) - The San Diego State women’s basketball team suffered its second straight defeat on Saturday after falling to Tulane by an 80-46 count at the Junkanoo Jam.

The Aztecs (3-2) were unable to contain a hot shooting Green Wave squad that connected on 50 percent of its field-goal attempts (31-62), including a 55.6 percent clip from beyond the three-point arc (15-27).

Tulane (3-3) also capitalized on 19 San Diego State turnovers, outscoring the Scarlet and Black 28-6 on miscues, while maintaining a 38-36 edge in rebounds, including a 29-23 margin on the defensive glass.

On the flip side, the Aztecs shot just 30.4 percent from the floor (17-56), converting just 2 of 16 attempts in the third quarter alone.

Trailing 10-6 after a jumper by Geena Gomez with 6:35 left in the first period, things quickly came unraveled for SDSU, as the Green Wave fashioned a 22-4 blitz over the remainder of the quarter to seize control of the contest.

The Aztecs tried to make a game of it in the second period, with Lexy Thorderson draining a trio of three pointers, while Abby Lowe and Te’a Adams added one each. However, SDSU still found itself on the wrong side of a 43-27 score by halftime.

Whatever comeback hopes the Aztecs entertained promptly evaporated in the third period, as Tulane tallied the first 20 points after intermission to put the game out of reach. The Green Wave’s Kolby Morgan, who led all players with 27 points, sparked the run by hitting three of her seven triples on the afternoon.

In addition to Morgan’s production, Tulane received 16 points and five assists from Kayla Manuirirangi, while Krystal Freeman collected a game-high seven rebounds.

Conversely, SDSU was paced by Thorderson’s aforementioned nine points, while Gomez and Jenay Bojorquez totaled six apiece in the loss.

The Aztecs return to the hardwood on Wednesday, Nov. 29 when they face the University of San Diego in a crosstown battle at Steve Fisher Court. Tip time is set for 6:30 p.m.
