August 29, 2016 (Long Beach) - San Diego State women’s soccer was unable to overcome a three-goal deficit in the first half and fell to No. 23 Long Beach State, 3-0, on Monday night.

Milan Moses attempted to spark the Aztecs early, recording two of her three shots in the match by the time the clock reached 24:07.

But just 51 seconds after Moses’s second scoring attempt, the 49ers got on the board. Mimi Rangel’s tally, her first of the season, was the result of a cross from Dana Fujikuni.

Exactly six minutes later, Sarah Maher doubled the 49ers’ lead with a goal off of a corner kick by reigning Big West Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Chloe Froment.

In the 42nd minute, Kaitlin Fregulia headed in a free kick by Froment for the final 3-0 goal.

SDSU redshirt freshman goalkeeper Gabby English’s three first-half saves helped keep the match within reach. In the second half, San Diego State tightened its backline and Long Beach State was only able to penetrate the Aztecs’ defense with one shot in the final 45 minutes of the match.

The 49ers out-shot San Diego State, 9-6, and took six corner kicks to the Aztecs’ two corner kicks.
