November 7, 2017 (La Mesa) -- The Sunshine Mermaids, a non-profit aquatic adventure camp for girls, invites you to the islands. Their upcoming fundraiser, an Island Banquet at the Charcoal House in La Mesa, will feature great food and beverages, local vendors, silent and live auctions, raffle prizes, entertainment, and a live performance from the Irensia Dance Troupe. This event will be held December 2 beginning at 6 p.m. and is for adults over 21. Tickets are $30 per person and include dinner, two drinks and one raffle ticket. Sunshine Mermaids offers day and overnight adventure camps for girls ages 6 through 17. Their mission is "to provide girls and young women the tools needed to increase self-esteem, self-awareness/defense and self-empowerment while practicing mindfulness, teamwork, and gaining communication skills with strong emphasis on appreciation for biodiversity and conservation."
