February 17, 2018 (Newport Coast, Calif.) - T-No. 14 San Diego State, which earlier in the day defeated Concordia in its Golden Coast opener, completed its trip to Orange County with a 13-6 exhibition win over the University of Toronto at Sage Hill School in Newport Coast.

February 17, 2018 (Irvine) - T-No. 14 San Diego State opened its fourth-straight Golden Coast Conference regular-season title defense with a 12-5 road victory at Concordia on Friday afternoon. The decision moved the Aztecs to 5-4 (1-0 GCC) on the season, while the Eagles fell to 3-2 (0-1 GCC).

February 11, 2018 (San Diego) - No. 18 San Diego State had trouble with 10th-ranked UC Davis’ physicality in the first half and dug itself too big of a hole in a 13-8 loss in the fifth-place game Sunday afternoon at the Triton Invitational in nearby La Jolla. SDSU fell to 4-4 on the season, while UCD improved to 7-5.

February 11, 2018 (San Diego) - No. 18 San Diego State used a second-half surge to defeat 23rd-ranked CSUN, 8-5, Sunday morning at the Triton Invitational at nearby UC San Diego. The Aztecs secured a spot in the fifth-place game and moved to 4-3 with the result. CSUN, meanwhile, dropped to 5-4.

February 10, 2018 (San Diego) - No. 18 San Diego State trailed early and never recovered Saturday afternoon in a 14-2 loss to T-No. 2 USC at the Triton Invitational at nearby UC San Diego. The defeat evened the Aztecs’ record to 3-3 and the Women of Troy moved to 5-0.

February 10, 2018 (San Diego) - No. 18 San Diego State opened the Triton Invitational at nearby UC San Diego with a convincing 7-4 victory over T-No. 13 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday morning. The win moved the Aztecs to 3-2 on the season, while the Gauchos fell to 6-4.

February 4, 2018 (Providence) - T-No. 13 San Diego State rallied from an early two-goal deficit to defeat T-No. 25 Brown in its home pool in overtime, 5-4, to wrap up Bruno Classic action in Providence, R.I. The Aztecs leave the east coast with a 2-2 record, while the Bears fall to 2-4.

January 30, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State water polo head coach Carin Crawford has earned the Sandy Nitta Distinguished Coaching Award for the Pacific Southwest Zone, USA Water Polo announced last week. It is the second straight year in which Crawford has won the award.

January 11, 2018 (San Clemente) - After just three days of preseason camp, San Diego State put its caps on and faced the Chinese National Team in an exhibition at JSerra Catholic High School. The Aztecs and China played six periods, but the four-quarter final had SDSU on the short end of a 16-9 score.

November 13, 2017 (San Diego) - Valhalla High School girls water polo standout Spencer Samuel has signed a letter of intent to play water polo at San Diego State for the 2018-19 school year.  The utility has been a starter in her three years at VHS and has helped the Norsemen to the CIF Open Division playoffs each season, advancing as far as the semifinals in 2016, after claiming three Grossmont League titles. A scholar-athlete in 2017 in both water polo and swim, the two-time team captain is a multi-year All-American, all-CIF performer and two-time Grossmont League Player of the Year (2016, 2017). Samuel enters her senior season with 253 goals, 148 assists and 261 steals in her career.

The tournament features seven teams, two of which will represent the United States.

June 28, 2017 (San Diego) - Six San Diego State water polo student-athletes landed on the 2017 Golden Coast Conference All-Academic Team, the league announced on Wednesday. The six Aztecs represent the second-highest total in school history, trailing only 2015’s eight honorees.

April 29, 2017 (Santa Clara) - Top-seeded San Diego State cruised to a 13-7 victory over fourth-seeded Azusa Pacific in the semifinal round of the Golden Coast Conference Championship at Sullivan Aquatic Center in Santa Clara. The win pushed the Aztecs into Sunday’s title game vs. second-seeded Pacific.

April 25, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State senior Caroline Israels has been named the 2017 Golden Coast Conference Player of the Year, the league announced today. SDSU’s leading goal scorer was one of five Aztecs to earn all-GCC accolades and was joined by Alyssa Diacono, Kate McDonnell, Ioli Benekou and Shelby Kraft.

April 7, 2017 (San Diego) - T-No. 14 San Diego State was outstanding on defense, received a career effort from goalkeeper Kate McDonnell and saw Caroline Israels score the game-winner in an 8-7 victory over ninth-ranked Pacific on Friday afternoon at Aztec Aquaplex. The win moved SDSU to 14-12 overall and 5-0 in the Golden Coast Conference, while UOP fell to 14-8 and 3-1 in league action.
