SHERIFF PRAISES HEROISM OF DEPUTIES WHO SHIELDED AND RESCUED FALLEN OFFICERS

September 29, 2012 (Lakeside)—Sergeant Craig Johnson has been released from Scripps Mercy Hospital and is recovering at home with his family, Sheriff Gore reported today. Johnson, along with Deputy Ari Perez, were shot by a child abuse suspect with a high-powered rifle. Perez remains hospitalized following surgery.

DEPUTIES CAPTURE MAN WHO ESCAPED FROM PATROL CAR

 
May 22, 2012 (Santee) – On May 16, Santee Patrol Deputies arrested Dylan Castle, 20, of Lakeside in the 9400 block of Carlton Oaks.  He had escaped from a marked patrol unit the night before, after an arrest for possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia just one block from where he was later apprehended again.

DEPUTY SHERIFFS’ ASSOCIATION OF SAN DIEGO COUNTY ENDORSES NATHAN FLETCHER

 

May 5, 2012 (San Diego County) -- The Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County today announced they endorsed Nathan Fletcher for mayor citing his independent voice and ability to work with broad coalitions to keep the public safe.

SKATEBOARDER HIT BY VEHICLE IN LEMON GROVE

 

March 26, 2012 (Lemon Grove) – A 20-year-old skateboarder suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a vehicle at 7:35 last night while crossing the street in the 7300 block of Central Avenue in Lemon Grove.
 
According to Sergeant V. J. Rivera with the San Diego Sheriff, the victim “was wearing dark clothes and listening to his iPod.”

LEMON GROVE DEPUTIES TALK SUICIDAL MAN INTO SURRENDERING

 
March 2, 2012 (Lemon Grove) -- Sheriffs from the Lemon Grove Substation responded to a call yesterday afternoon from a woman in the 7900 block of Mt. Vernon Street. The caller told the dispatcher that her son had a gun and was threatening to hurt himself. After making the call, the woman left the house with her adult daughter.

SUICIDAL MAN ARRESTED FOR STABBING MOTHER AND GIRLFRIEND; ONE VICTIM SUSTAINED LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES

 

February 21, 2012 (Spring Valley) – A 28-year-old man was arrested this morning for assaulting his girlfriend, 35, and his mother at 1635 Canyon Road, #40, in Spring Valley. Deputies from the Lemon Grove Station responded to a call regarding the attack shortly after midnight.  According to Sergeant V.J. Rivera, the suspect “wanted to hurt himself and he had a knife with him.”
