COUNTY GIVING FREE SAND & BAGS TO RESIDENTS

People Encouraged to Protect their Properties, Keep Roadways and Storm Drains Clear

December 12, 2012 (San Diego County)--Winter rain is on its way, and San Diego County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) is once again giving away free sandbags to people in unincorporated communities to help them protect their homes, neighborhoods and streets from flooding, erosion, mud and debris flows.

April 4, 2012 (San Diego)--Under California state law, planning and sponsor groups of San Diego County's unincorporated areas are considered elected agencies subject to all the laws governing open debate and process. They have largely been a part of San Diego's planning process since 1968, but they are creatures of any county's Board of Supervisors, and exist at the Supervisors' discretion.

 

STRUCTURE FIRE LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF A BODY

 
March 27, 2012 (El Cajon) -- A fire that started inside a Mobile Home, in an unincorporated area of El Cajon lead to the discovery of a body inside. The fire was reported just before 9AM this morning at the Starlight Mobile Home Park located on the 300 block of East Bradley Avenue.
 
When the first crew arrived on scene, neighbors indicated there might be someone inside. The flames were so intense; crews could not enter the structure. Instead they were forced to shift into a defensive position, to save surrounding homes.
