Remember to avoid use of chemical pesticides on your grass, which can also harm cute critters like this one!

Where else but San Diego could you frame a sunset with a pine tree and a palm tree?  Meteorologists say Thursday night’s dazzling sky show was due to high humidity in the air – or maybe it’s just magic.

Some have called these chem trails but they are actually simply water vapor that has condensed/frozen due to cold temperatures high in the atmosphere. The scientific name is contrails.

February 28, 2017 (Descanso) – Duncan McFetridge with Cleveland National Forest Foundation  sent in this photo in Descanso Valley of the rain-swollen Sweetwater River, the major source of water in the Sweetwater Authority. 

"The river has been dry for about two years," he says. "The fall rains recharged the river to about three feet wide. Currently, it's about 70 feet across!"

January 27, 2017 (Cuyamaca) – Tom Lemon ventured into the Laguna Mountains today and sent us this beautiful photo of the thick blanket of snow across the area.  “I saw where the plows had moved a lot of snow and today there were three plows working to clear the side of the Sunrise Highway to the edge of the pavement and parking areas at the lodge, visitor center, and the restaurants,” he wrote. “We stopped at Cuyamaca Lake to walk across the causeway and I could not continue because of the 40 MPH wind and spray from whitecaps on the lake.”

November 16, 2016 (Descanso) — Sharon Penny juxtaposed trees in front of the Super Moon over Descanso Monday night.  She notes, “I didn’t have cool cityscapes”  so opted for a natural setting in the foreground.  The Super Moon was the biggest and brightest moon since 1948, the last time the moon’s orbit brought it this close to Earth.
