May 9, 2017 (San Diego) - Ever since the Anaheim Ducks captured the Stanley Cup to cap the 2006-07 season -- yes, it's been a full decade -- the franchise has remained among the best teams in the National Hockey League... except in one key area.

HUNDREDS FLOCK TO GULLS BLOCK PARTY

September 8, 2015 (San Diego) – If San Diego isn’t a hockey town, as many claim, we have a funny way of showing it.

With the Gulls returning to San Diego after a nine year absence, many excited hockey fans came to the Quartyard downtown to meet coach Dallas Eakins and other members of the Gulls’ staff in a Q&A hosted by the voice of the Gulls, Craig Elsten.

WESTERN STATES HOCKEY LEAGUE: STEELHEADS GROUND GULLS WITH 6-1 WIN

by Christopher Mohr

February 20, 2010 (Escondido) - As a hockey fan, you know it's not your night when the opposing team scores a goal before you take the first bite out of your pretzel. When they also score a short-handed goal, get 43 shots on goal and one player on your team fans on a penalty shot, it's doubtful that much will go right for you that night.

Such was the case for the San Diego Gulls in their 6-1 loss to the Idaho Junior Steelheads Saturday night at Iceoplex Escondido.

WESTERN STATES HOCKEY LEAGUE: GULLS SHUT OUT CONDORS WITH 4-0 WIN

by Christopher Mohr

(ESCONDIDO) - Saturday night's hockey game at Iceoplex Escondido between the host San Diego Gulls and visiting Bakersfield Junior Condors was almost the exact opposite of Friday night's game between these two teams, a 13-3 rout by the Gulls. Such scores make fans who missed the game do double takes and wonder if there will be a hockey puck shortage--or if the final tally came from a football game instead.

This time the goals were not as easy to come by as it was the defense that shined for San Diego. They survived several flurries of shots from Bakersfield and overcame a double-minor penalty en route to a 4-0 win.
