EL CAJON POLICE SEEK SILVER CAR THAT STRUCK GIRL, FLED SCENE

March 15, 2016 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police Department seeks public help to find a hit-and-run driver who struck and seriously injured a 12-year-old girl. The child was crossing the street on East Chase near Avocado with friends around 8:20 a.m. when she was hit. According to witness statements, she was crossing mid-block and was not in a crosswalk.

The suspect vehicle was caught on surveillance video. It appears to be a silver 2016 Honda Accord, two-door, or similar model. It was traveling east on Chase when the accident occurred. The driver did not stop, leaving the injured child in the street.

MOTHER ARRESTED IN EL CAJON CRASH THAT KILLED 3-YEAR OLD, INJURED 2 OTHER CHILDREN

 

Update April 8, 2015: The victim has been identified as Carly Ramirez, 3, daughter of Carlos Ramirez and Brandy Teague.

April 5, 2015 (El Cajon)—  Brandy Teague, a 31-year-old mother, is under arrest after a crash killed her 3-year-old daughter and injured two other children of hers in the vehicle.

The accident was reported at 9:43 p.m. Saturday night on Broadway in El Cajon. According to witnesses, the silver Hyundai driven by Teague was traveling east when it left the roadway and collided with a telephone pole. 

“The driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel before the collision occurred,” said Lieutenant R. Soulard. Teague is charged with gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license.

SEMPRA ENERGY TRUCK SEIZED IN HIT AND RUN FATALITY

Victim identified as Robert Fisher, 54

January 10, 2014 (El Cajon)  -- El Cajon Police today announced that investigators have recovered a work truck owned by SDG&E/Sempra Energy that police believe fled the scene after striking a pedestrian on January 6th shortly after 10 p.nm. at Main Street and Jamacha Road. 

The pedestrian, Robert Fisher, 54, was later struck by a second vehicle and died at the scene.

“The vehicle seized is a white 2008 Ford 550 work truck owned by SDGE/Sempra Energy. Current evidence indicates the vehicle was not operating in an official, on-duty capacity at the time of the collision,” said Lt. R. Soulard with El Cajon Police. “SDG&E/Sempra Energy has been fully cooperative in this investigation,” Lt. Soulard added.

PEDESTRIAN DIES AFTER DRIVER FLEES SCENE: EL CAJON POLICE SEEK WHITE FORD TRUCK

 

January 7, 2014 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police ask public help to locate a white Ford truck that struck a pedestrian near Main Street and Jamacha at 10:09 p.m. last night. After the driver fled the scene, the pedestrian was hit by another vehicle and died at the scene.

It is believed that the initial vehicle involved in the collision that left the scene was a 2008-2010 Ford F-350 to F-550 utility work truck.  This truck is white in color, with a decal/logo on the front door, and is equipped with a personnel bucket lift/crane and a utility bed.  The truck should have damage to the right headlight area as a result of the collision.

LEMON GROVE MAN KILLED IN EL CAJON TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

 

June 10, 2013 (San Diego’s East County) -- Ismael Perez Chavez, 30,  died at the scene of a solo vehicle traffic accident June 8  reported at 11:49 p.m.on westbound I-8 near Mollison Avenue in El Cajon. Perez, who was single, resided with roommates in Lemon Grove.

ACCIDENT CAUSES POWER OUTAGE IN EL CAJON COMMUNITIES

April 28, 2013 (El Cajon ) – A brown Ford car has crashed into a power pole on Jamacha Road at Kendrick in the Granite Hills area.   Power lines are down.  An outage is affecting 1217 homes in the Granite Hills, Bostonia, Singing Hills and East El Cajon areas, according to the SDG&E website.

“The driver was not injured,” said Paul Kruze, an ECM photojournalist at the scene.  “Heartland Fire is on scene due to the risk of fire.”

DRIVER COMES FORWARD IN FATAL HIT AND RUN

 

February 19, 2013 (El Cajon) – A driver sought by El Cajon Police following the death of a pedestrian has now contacted the Police Department and is cooperating with authorities.

Based on the preliminary investigation, an adult approximately 70 years of age was wearing dark clothing and attempting to cross the roadway near the intersection of Avocado Avenue and Carter Street this evening, when he was struck by a Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Avocado.

February 19, 2013 (El Cajon)--The El Cajon Police Traffic division is now investigating a hit and run collision involving a pedestrian tonight. A male pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing mid-block along Avocado Avenue near Carter Street just after 6:00 p.m. this evening. Avocado Avenue was closed between Chase Avenue and Washington Avenue for the investigation.

ALL LANES BLOCKED ON I-8 IN EL CAJON

July 23, 2012 (El Cajon) --All westbound lanes of I-8 are blocked at Johnson Ave. in El Cajon due to a crash involving  a van and another vehicle on the center divide. Traffic is also slow on eastbound I-8, an eyewitness at the scene told ECM at 9:45 p.m.  No emergency vehicles had arrived yet as of this report; avoid area if possible.

Josh Zelt remains hospitalized in very serious condition, while Heath Holley was recently released and is beginning his recovery from home, according to the San Diego Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK).

WOMAN KILLED CROSSING ROAD IN EL CAJON

 

October 13, 2011 (El Cajon)—A woman was struck by a pickup truck and killed in the 600 block of East Washington this evening at 7:50 p.m. According to El Cajon Police, she was wearing dark clothes while crossing the street with a companion. The victim is believed to be a Middle Eastern woman in her 40’s, according to Lt. Frank La Haye.

MOTORIST ARRESTED AFTER EL CAJON ACCIDENT


October 6, 2011 (El Cajon ) – A motorist involved in an accident at Bradley and Magnolia in El Cajon this morning was combative towards California Highway Patrol officers and medics, according to the CHP website.

 

A nurse suffered bruising and the suspect was arrested in restraints on all four extremities, CHP reports.

Her vehicle plowed through a round center median, launched through a temporary ramp and fence, then over a deep trench before landing in a construction site near El Cajon’s City Hall.

CAR THIEF CRASHES INTO BEDROOM IN EL CAJON

 

February 6, 2011 (El Cajon) – A parolee accused of stealing a car has been arrested after crashing the vehicle into the bedroom of a home at 627 Verdin Street in El Cajon shortly before dawn this morning. Thankfully the home's occupants were spared a rude awakening, since no one was sleeping in the bedroom that was struck.

12-YEAR-OLD INJURED IN EL CAJON COLLISION

 

February 5, 2011 (El Cajon) – A 12-year-old child was seriously injured in an accident that occurred at 10:37 a.m. in the 1300 block of Melody Lane in El Cajon. Police seek witnesses who may have more information.

According to witness statements and evidence at the scene, the pedestrian, 12, darted from the sidewalk across the roadway and into oncoming traffic. The motorist was traveling eastbound on Melody and was unable to avoid hitting the child, who suffered serious injuries and was transported to Children’s Hospital.

October 14, 2010 (El Cajon) – A white car plunged over the side of westbound I-8 shortly after noon today, landing upside in a drainage ditch just west of Second Street.

 

Emergency workers extricated those inside and transported two patients to a local hospital, according to Monica Zech, spokesperson for the City of El Cajon.

August 15, 2010 (El Cajon) – Justin R. Pickett, 28, was found dead behind the wheel of a vehicle that flipped on its side at the connector ramp of northbound State Route 67 and westbound Interstate 8 in El Cajon. A canine police officer from El Cajon spotted the vehicle at 2:41 a.m. yesterday.

May 3, 2010 (El Cajon) – Witnesses have told California Highway Patrol officers that a man drinking a beer beside Interstate 8 near the Greenfield exit intentionally stepped in front of a semi-truck, which swerved to avoid him. The man then ran into the path of the truck again and was struck.
