TIERRASANTA TODDLER FOUND DEAD IN CAR, TWO PEOPLE LATER OVERDOSE AT SAME HOME

August 7, 2019 (Tierrasanta) – A mother called 911 Monday to report she had fallen asleep and upon awakening, could not find her 2-year-old daughter.  The woman later called back and told the dispatcher she had found the toddler in her vehicle, not breathing. Medics arrived at the Tierrasanta residence in a military housing complex, but could not revive the girl, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

BLUES RUSE AT ANDIAMO RISTORANTE AUG. 30

 

August 28, 2014 (Tierrasanta) – Andiamo Ristorante Italiano and Bar is serving up a brand new menu—along with live music by Blues Rise starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th.  The musicians will perform vintage blues including Mississippi Delta Blues from the first half of the 1900s as well as more recent blues tunes.

ARREST MADE IN SPRING VALLEY OVER FREEWAY SHOOTING

 

March 6, 2013 (Spring Valley) – Reynald Celendro was arrested yesterday in Spring Valley under suspicion of firing  in the direction of a motorist on Highway 52 in Tierrasanta near Santo Road earlier in the day.

CHP officers made the arrest in the 8900 block of Ildica Street in Spring Valley.  A pellet gun may have been involved.

MAN TRIES TO KILL WIFE, TURNS ASSAULT WEAPON ON SELF

January 14, 2013 (Tierrasanta) – San Diego Police officers responded to a call at 10700 Esmeraldas Drive in Tierrasasnta, where a witness reported a gunshot. After learning that the suspect owned multiple firearms, officers surrounded the house. Moments later, the suspect exit the rare of the home, armed with an assault-style rifle.

Officers ordered him several times to drop the weapon.  “Officers showed superior restraint as the suspect refused to comply,” said Sergeant E.J. Dayrit.  “Eventually the suspect turned the weapon upon himself and fired, in an attempt to kill himself.” The suspect inflicted wounds to his face and head area.

Ristorante Italiano is offering a night of Peruvian cuisine on August 11, beginning at 5 p.m. at 5950 Santo Road in Tierrasanta.  The evening will include live music from the coast of Peru as interpreted by singer Miguel Angel and accompanied by Angelo Salazar on acoustic guitar and Richard Gomez on cajon (Peuovian box).

WOMAN ARRESTED IN LA MESA FOR MURDER OF GREAT-AUNT IN TIERRASANTA

December 17, 2011 (La Mesa)—Tiffany Burney, 23, of San Diego was arrested this morning on Parkside Drive in La Mesa by San Diego Police homicide detectives. She is charged with the murder of her grandmother’s sister, Daisy Mae Hayes, 74.

FURNITURE OIL FUELS HOUSE FIRE IN TIERRASANTA

September 13, 2011 (Tierrasanta) –After treating patio furniture with teak oil on Sunday, a homeowner at 4608 Seda in Tierrasanta discarded the teak oil can in a trashcan. “A fire started in the trash can a few hours later and the homeowner was unable to put it out,” said Officer J. Jacobsen with San Diego Police.

Update:  Kathryn Kevern has been located and is safe, authorities confirm.

July 22, 2011 (Tierrasanta) – San Diego Police ask the public’s help to locate Kathryn “Kate” Kevern, 53, who told a friend she was going for a walk at 7:30 p.m. last night and would return within the hour, but never came back to the home at 4792 Calle de Vida. She has short brown hair and wears prescription glasses. She was last seen wearing a white straw hat and a full length green sundress.

December 9, 2010 (Tierrasansta) – A subcontractor working for SDG&E yesterday found an unexploded, live military device while digging in the 10500 block of Tierrasanta Blvd San Diego Police Department’s Metro Arson Strike Team and the U.S. military responded.

PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN TIERRASANTA

September 3, 2010 (Tierrasanta) – A 66-year old woman was struck by a 2001 Chrysler sedan at 8:36 this morning while walking southbound in the 11200 block of Tierrasanta Boulevard. She died at a hospital later of major injuries sustained in the accident.

FAMILY DOG KILLS TODDLER IN TIERRASANTA

 

Update August 1:  County Animal Control officers have euthanized the dog, at the request of the family, which has other small children.

 

July 31, 2010 (Tierrasanta) – A family’s German shepherd fatally mauled a toddler in their home at 3529 Lofberg Street late this morning. “The baby, a boy, was taken to Children’s Hospital but did not survive,” San Diego Police officer Kevin McNamara confirmed.

SWAT STANDOFF ENDS IN SAILOR’S SUICIDE

 

May 20, 2010 (Tierrasanta) – A 24-year-old active duty Navy enlisted man barricaded himself inside his garage yesterday at 4783 Gurke Street in Tierrasanta and committed suicide. San Diego Police SWAT team was summoned after the man, who had access to a handgun and rifle, told his wife he planned to kill himself. Neighbors were evacuated and emergency negotiators attempted unsuccessfully to communicate with the distraught man.
