NEW PROGRAM FOR HOMELESS WHO FREQUENTLY USE ERS

 

June 11, 2018 (San Diego) - The County is looking for 1,049 chronically homeless people who frequently use emergency rooms for medical treatment, resulting in high Medi-Cal costs.

These people, identified in 2016, are being sought to be a part of Whole Person Wellness, a County program that will help them find a home and give them access to behavioral and physical health services, saving millions in Medi-Cal costs.

BILL TO CONTROL HEALTHCARE COSTS DRAWS FIRE FROM PHYSICIANS’ GROUPS AND HOSPITALS

April 30, 2018 (Sacramento) – The state Assembly’s Health Committee has approved Assembly Bill 3087, the Health Care Price Relief Act. The controversial bill would create the California Health Care Cost, Quality and Equity Commission to set amounts that health plans, hospitals, doctors and other health providers may charge.

BILL TO LET STATE LIMIT HEALTH INSURANCE RATE HIKES ADVANCES IN STATE SENATE

Local legislators split on support, opposition to measure

 


June 25, 2010 (Sacramento) – On Wednesday, the State Senate Health Committee passed AB 2578, the Healthcare Accountability Act. The measure aims to protect California consumers from excessive health insurance rate hikes, such as the 39% rate increase announced by Anthem Blue Cross earlier this year and an up to 75% increase imposed on businesses by Blue Shield.
