1ST ANNUAL CRASH FOR KIDS GOLF TOURNAMENT ON MARCH 26

March 21, 2012 (San Diego) – Crash for Kids, the first annual golf tournament to benefit the San Diego Police Officers Association’s Widows and Orphans Fund and the San Diego Army Advisory Council, will take place on Monday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m.  The event will be held at The Santaluz Club, located at 8170 Caminito Santaluz E, San Diego.

D.A. declines to prosecute felony conspiracy charge for protest at Mayor’s speech, following public pressure

January 29, 2012 (La Mesa) – First Amendment advocates expressed shock when San Diego Police arrested La Mesa resident Mike Garcia and three others on felony conspiracy charges--a tactic customarily reserved for grave offenses such as organized crime activities and drug trafficking.

Their purported crime? Interrupting Mayor Sanders’ state of the city speech with a brief “Mic-Check” protest over a free speech issue.

February 3, 2011 – Councilmember Marti Emerald has made an official plea to Mayor Jerry Sanders to reinvest reserve funds in restoring fire engines and lifeguard services.

 

“The primary function of government is keeping its citizens safe,” said Councilmember Emerald. “I will not stand down until adequate public safety resources are restored to our neighborhoods.”

SYLVIA'S SOAPBOX: OUR DIEGUITO RIVER PARK IS IN DANGER

July 9, 2010 (San Diego) -- One of our most prized regional achievements and treasures in San Diego County is the San Dieguito River Park, located in our back yard. When Mayor Sander’s budget was approved by the San Diego City Council recently it included cutting $254,000 annual contribution to the river park, which is 36% of the park’s budget.
