November 8, 2012 (San Diego)--Heartland Coalition has received the prestigious “Service Firm of The Year” award by the Minority Business Development Agency.  The award, presented October 25 in Riverside, recognizes individuals and organizations that have demonstrated leadership and commitment in advancing minority business enterprises.  The MBDA theme for this year is “Build it here-sell it everywhere.”

EL CAJON FIRE'S SAFETY & CAREER EXPO IS OCTOBER 13TH!

October 6, 2012 (El Cajon) -- Considered to be one of the largest community events in the East County, the annual El Cajon Safety & Career Expo is being held Saturday, October 13th, at 100 E. Lexington Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

After a special noon welcome ceremony, the El Cajon Police Department will have a special Police K-9 demonstration.  San Diego Gas & Electric and Mission Federal Credit Union are our title sponsors, both dedicated to education in the community.  Stop by their booths for valuable safety information and get a fire badge sticker and red fire helmet for the children.

GROSSMONT, CUYAMACA COMMENCEMENTS BRING A CLOSE TO CHALLENGING ACADEMIC YEAR

 
May 26, 2012 (El Cajon) -- More than 2,300 students will be receiving their degrees or certificates from East County’s two community colleges at month’s end, capping a year marked by the state’s ongoing budget crisis. 
Cuyamaca College will honor 695 students receiving associate degrees and certificates of achievement Wednesday, May 30, at the 34th annual commencement at the college’s student center quad. On Thursday, May 31, Grossmont College will laud 1,664 students receiving their degrees and certificates at the college’s 51st commencement at the main quad. The ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

May 3, 2012 (El Cajon) -- The Grossmont College Career Center’s Adult Reentry Program will host “Now That You’ve Been Laid Off,” a free seminar featuring tips on getting hired again, from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, in Griffin Center, the new student center building, Building #60, Room #140, on the college campus. Admission is free.

October 2, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The El Cajon Fire Department is holding a safty and career expo on Saturday, October 8 at 100 East Lexington Avenue in El Cajon from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be a special tribute at noon for firefighters, police, and military heros.
 

During the day, many activities will be available for family fun as well as teaching the public how to be safe and prepared for a fire or other emergency.

July 27, 2010 (El Cajon) -- Grossmont College Adult Reentry Program will host “Your Tomorrow Starts Here,” a free informational meeting for adults interested in returning to school to reenter the workforce, learn a new career, earn a college diploma or upgrade their skills for a job promotion, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, in Room 220 on the college campus. Admission and parking are free.
