HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS ELIGIBLE FOR "CLEAN SLATE" UNDER BLOCK BILL HEADED TO GOVERNOR

August 26  2016 (San Diego) -- California’s state Senate today approved a measure which would allow human trafficking victims arrested or convicted of non-violent crimes while they were trafficked to have those charges removed from their records.

SENIOR SCAM STOPPERS SEMINAR SEPTEMBER 13

September 9, 2012 (San Diego) – Seniors need to be proactive when it comes to their financial safety. Assemblyman Marty Block is offering a public workshop that highlights local services and legislation aimed at providing seniors with information to protect them from financial fraud and other scams.  The seminar is September 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El Community Room, 6299 Capri Drive, San Diego.

BILLS FOCUSED ON IMPROVING STUDENT SUCCESS IN COLLEGE CLEAR SENATE HURDLE

 

June 29, 2011 (Sacramento) -- Last week, the Senate Education Committee approved three bills authored by Assembly Higher Education Chair Marty Block (AD-78) aimed at improving the student experience at California’s public colleges and universities. This series of bills includes AB 620 aimed at creating safe college campus environments for LGBT students,AB 670 to establish clear appeals procedures for California State University (CSU) admissions decisions, and AB 743that creates a system-wide assessment tool to better place community college students.

October 4, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed AB 2058, authored by Assemblyman Marty Block (D-Lemon Grove). The bill will help thousands of unemployed Californians upgrade their job skills by preventing individuals from being cut off from Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits because they've enrolled in training programs to boost their employability.

DISABLED VETERANS' PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION BILL SIGNED BY GOVERNOR

September 24, 2010 (Sacramento) --Assemblymember Marty Block (D-Lemon Grove) announced that his AB 2314 has been signed by the Governor. A bipartisan measure overwhelmingly approved by the Legislature, this legislation makes it easier for disabled veterans to receive a special property tax exemption available to them by extending the time frame for filing a claim.
