VICTIM AIR-LIFTED TO HOSPITAL AFTER CRASH IN LA MESA

October 30, 2019 (La Mesa) – A multi-vehicle crash involving at least three vehicles Tuesday morning briefly shut down all lanes of State Route 125 in La Mesa near Spring Street.  A medical helicopter air-lifted at least one injured person to a nearby hospital.
 
The crash was reported at 9:05 a.m. according to the California Highway Patrol and all lanes were reopened by 10:30 a.m.

FOUR EJECTED IN FIERY CRASH ON AVOCADO DRIVE IN EL CAJON

March 27, 2019 (El Cajon) – Four male passengers ejected in a fiery crash Monday night on Avocado Drive in El Cajon remain hospitalized in stable condition but are expected to recover, Lt. Stephen Kirk with the El Cajon Police Dept. reports.

WOMAN KILLED IN SPRING VALLEY CRASH

May 1, 2018 (Spring Valley) – Maria Cristina Duran, a 35-year-old mother from Spring Valley, was driving a blue Kia SUV westbound on State Route 94 this morning near the Kenwood Drive exit when she swerved to avoid hitting a Honda Civic that had pulled in front of her. She crashed onto the center divide and the vehicle overturned, CHP reports. 

Duran, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, says California Highway Patrol Officer Ben Demarest.

Her son, 17, and daughter, 12, both passengers in the Kia, were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

SERIOUS ACCIDENT IN POWAY

April 11, 2013 (Poway) – A head-on collision in Poway on April 8 at 3:02 p.m. has caused serious injury. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on Metate Lane at Alpine Drive.

According to the Sheriff, a preliminary investigation found that the driver of a sedan traveling westbound fell asleep at the wheel and drove into the eastbound lanes, colliding head-on with an oncoming sport utility vehicle (SUV).  Both drivers were taken to a hospital. The sedan driver suffered non-life-threatening but serious injuries. The SUV driver suffered minor injuries. Both were released from the hospital a short time later.

Metate Lane was closed for two hours. DUI is not suspected as a factor.

PARKED VEHICLE CRASHES INTO ELDER CARE HOME IN LA MESA, CAUSES FATAL INJURY TO RESIDENT

 
 
June 27, 2012 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police responded to a vehicle crash yesterday afternoon in the 4900 block of Mills Street, where they discovered that a motorist had parked a vehicle on the street and failed to apply the parking break or put the vehicle in park. After the driver left the area, the vehicle began rolling backwards and across to the west side of the street colliding into an elder care home.

WOMAN RESCUED FROM ROLLOVER CRASH IN LAKESIDE

 

February 17, 2012 (Lakeside) – Firefighters from El Cajon and Lakeside Fire Departments utilized the jaws of life to free an injured motorist in a rollover accident on Aurora Drive.  The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. yesterday.  The female driver was traveling west on Aurora when she failed to slow down at a sharp corner and hit a curb, causing her vehicle to flip over, according to the CHP.
