VALLECITO LIGHTNING FIRES NOW 90% CONTAINED

Higher humidity and cooler temperatures are aiding firefighters, Cal Fire reports. The Vallecito Lightning Complex is now 22,828 acres and 90% contained. The suppression costs are up to $6,400,000 and firefighters still have a mile of containment line to construct. There have been a total of 4 injuries to firefighters.

As of  this evening, all roads in the fire area have been opened and all evacuation orders have been lifted.

SENIORS AT HEALTH CARE LIBRARY TO DISCUSS RELAXATION, VISUALIZATION AND MEDITATION JULY 25

 
July17, 2012 (La Mesa)--The Grossmont Healthcare District’s Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, will host a free seniors discussion group on “Relaxation and Visualization” from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 25. The public is invited to attend, and RSVP is not required.

SDG&E CELEBRATES SAN DIEGO’S BIGGEST ENERGY SAVERS

 Winner Achieves Nearly 50 Percent Energy Savings

January 5, 2012 (San Diego’s East County)– An energy efficiency program piloted by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) succeeded in more than doubling energy savings among participating residential customers during a three-month period. Erica Faunce of Lakeside, Calif., was declared the Biggest Energy SaverSM contest winner in San Diego after achieving a 46.5 percent energy savings, equal to 1,356 kilowatt hours for her family of three, and won a new laptop computer.

EXPLORING CEDAR CREEK FALLS’ NEW TRAIL

June 29, 2011 (San Diego’s East County)--Nestled in between slopes in the Cleveland National Forest lies a gem known as Cedar Creek Falls, often referred to as The Devil’s Punch Bowl. A wondrous waterfall is the picturesque background to the swimming hole at the end of this approximately four-mile hike.  The location used to be accessed mainly from Julian.  But due to a newly revamped trail out of Ramona, it’s now more accessible than ever before--and more populated, especially on weekends and holidays.
