April 15, 2010 (El Cajon)--The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians has made a donation valued at approximately $10,000 to the El Cajon Community Development Corporation to further the organization’s economic development efforts in Downtown El Cajon. The Viejas donation was made in support of the El Cajon CDC’s annual “It’s 5:00 Somewhere” fundraiser party held April 16, 2010 in Downtown El Cajon.

Viejas contributed a number of elements to the 5:00 Somewhere party. In addition to its expertise in event planning, Viejas provided a professional live band, all of the production, staging, lighting sound and electrical requirements for the party, the audio/visual production and flat screen TVs, the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, the Viejas Mashed Potato Bar, and 20 cases of water.

“Viejas has been a major supporter of our annual 5:00 Somewhere fundraiser, and we are proud to have the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians as the Presenting Sponsor for this signature event again this year,” said Kathryn Courter, Promotions Manager with the El Cajon CDC. “Their contribution directly benefits our efforts to improve Downtown El Cajon through a number of community development programs including its Neighborhood Enhancement projects, Clean & Safe program, Saturday Morning Clean-ups, and others.”

The El Cajon Community Development Corporation is the private, non-profit community-based corporation formed by El Cajon property owners in 1996 to help manage community revitalization in historic Downtown El Cajon.
