April 8, 2017 (San Diego) - After an exciting home opener that ended positively with a win, the Padres looked to recreate it again tonight.  They’d have a tough go of it with Madison Bumgarner on the mound for the Giants against Jhoulys Chacin, but they did their best, as we all know they can.

It was a drastically different game than last night.  The Padres scored their runs and scored them early.  Hunter Renfroe doubled in the first to score Manuel Margot and in the second, Margot doubled to score Allen Cordoba and the Padres led 2-0 for the rest of the game.

The Giants scored one run in the ninth on Brandon Crawford’s single that scored Buster Posey, but the Padres stood tall and took the 2-1 win and the series.

The Giants and Padres play the rubber match tomorrow at 1:40 p.m.  Johnny Cueto starts on the mound for San Francisco against Clayton Richard for the Padres.
