June 30, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres have to be feeling good about that Braves series; a series win against a team they were swept by in April.  But the good times are now probably over because it’s back to NL West action tonight as the red-hot Dodgers swooped into San Diego.  Alex Wood started for LA tonight against Clayton Richard.

Do we even have to report on this series?  It’s going to go pretty much as we expect it and both teams proved it in the first inning when Austin Barnes hit a grand slam to give LA a 4-0 lead.

Justin Turner homered in the fourth for two runs to make the lead 6-0, but Cory Spangenberg grounded out in the Padres’ half of the fourth to make it 6-1.

With the bases loaded in the fifth, Chris Taylor walked to score Logan Forsythe and the Dodgers led 7-1.

Barnes was still alive, though, and he hit a three-run dong in the sixth to make it 10-1 Dodgers.

Allen Cordoba hit a sac fly in the seventh to score Matt Szczur to make it 10-2.

Hector Sanchez came through like he always does in the ninth with a two-run homer,, but the Dodgers won game one in commanding fashion with a 10-4 win.

Game two is tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m.  Rich Hill starts for LA against Dillon Overton.
