ECM PADRES REPORT: MARLINS EVEN SERIES ON NO EFFORT FROM PADRES

August 22, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres did a rare thing last night:  took the series opener.  They tried for the series tonight against Miami with Jesus Luzardo on the mound for the Marlins against Blake Snell.

Tonight, the Padres weren’t so lucky.  Jorge Soler launched a solo homer to center in the third.  A routine throw to first was Padres’d, allowing Luis Arraez to score from second.  Ex-Padre Josh Bell scored on a fielder’s choice and the Fish coasted to a 3-0 series evening win.

The rubber game is tomorrow at 1:10 p.m.  Sandy Alcantara starts for Miami against Seth Lugo.
