July 25, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres were embarrassed last night by a rookie pitcher.  Tonight, though, they got to face the veteran Rich Hill on the mound for Pittsburgh against Blake Snell.

Henry Davis doubled to left in the second to score Carlos Santana, but Manny Machado saved the day with a solo homer in the bottom of the second.  Gary Sanchez singled to left to score Xander Bogaerts and the Padres led 2-1 after two.

Juan Soto finally added insurance in the seventh with a solo homer to left and Sanchez belted a two-run bomb to left in the eighth and the Padres successfully evened the series with a 5-1 win.
