June 3, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres were dropped by one run last night by the Cubs. They tried again tonight with Drew Smyly on the mound for Chicago against Yu Darvish.
Tonight, the Padres took advantage first with a sac fly from Brandon Dixon to center in the second that scored Gary Sanchez. Trent Grisham lined a triple that was a triple because of Mike Tauchman’s bobble in center. It allowed Jake Cronenworth to score and the Padres led 2-0 after two.
Fernando Tatis Jr. added on with a solo homer in the third to deep left and the Padres led 3-0 after three.
Tatis Jr. sealed the win with a three-run blast in the eighth and the Padres evened the series with a 6-0 shutout win.
