Distribution criteria and a distribution plan have been developed to ensure that those at highest risk of illness and death from COVID-19 infection and those in low income and underserved communities receive these kits.

May 5, 2022 (Washington D.C.) -- Today, the Environmental Working Group released its 16th annual Guide to Sunscreens, finding that about 75 percent of more than 1,850 products evaluated rate poorly for skin protection from the sun, or haveingredients that could be harmful to health or heighten sensitivity to the sun’s harmful rays.

April 29, 2022 (El Cajon) - For the first time, Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges will explore building affordable housing for students. The new initiative is being funded by a pair of $150,000 state grants received by the colleges, enabling college leaders to take a serious look at ways of providing housing security to students in need.

April 29, 2022 (Lemon Grove) — Lemon Grove Councilmember Liana LeBaron was arrested and charged with domestic violence on April 18 by the San Diego County Sheriff’s department, following an altercation with her husband over his life insurance policy.
A restraining order was filed the next day under the name Timothy C. Howell, which required that LeBaron leave her home upon its court approval. The protective order will last until May 10, when LeBaron will appear in court to address the issue.

April 28, 2022 (Buffalo, W.N.Y.) - Unlike many mental health issues, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is not treated with medication. The diagnosis was coined concurrently with Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) by Dr. Marsha Linehan. It is often found in people who have other underlying medical conditions but unlike traditional mental health issues thought to warrant medication, is considered environmentally caused as opposed to irregular brain chemistry. Today it is regarded as being induced by an invalidating childhood.
At first this sounded strange to me; my parents were extremely supportive and I received accolades all the time! But later, I remembered homophobic taunting, just from my mannerisms, before my sexual orientation had even formed. Perhaps that forced me to continually feel the need to prove myself? I'll never forget those, "are you a boy or a girl?" Luckily by now I have a beard and receding hairline so I'm pretty sure I'm a dude.

April 27, 2022 (San Diego) - The San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a board letter put forth by Supervisor Joel Anderson and Vice Chair Nora Vargas that will provide economic opportunities for small businesses in the unincorporated County. Their board action was inspired by a letter written to Supervisor Anderson from an Alpine constituent and was approved unanimously at the April 26, 2022 Board of Supervisors meeting.

This special holiday was first celebrated in 1872.
