May 23, 2016 (San Francisco) - After last night’s devastating loss in extra innings, the Padres once again found themselves in the Bay Area taking on the Giants.  Also once again, they found themselves facing Johnny Cueto.  Drew Pomeranz started for San Diego.

Shades of the Dodgers series emerged as the Padres and Giants found themselves in a pitchers’ duel until the ninth when the most Padres thing happened.  Alexi Amarista couldn’t catch a fly ball and that sent Hunter Pence around the diamond and onto home to walk it off for the Giants.  They take a walk-off win 1-0.  The Padres will try again tomorrow night at 7:15.

In transaction news, the Padres sent down starter Colin Rea to AAA El Paso and called up pitcher Keith Hessler.
