August 26, 2016 (Miami) - After being swept by the Cubs at home, the Padres traveled to the beaches of Miami to take on the Marlins.  Jarred Cosart started for the Padres against David Phelps for the Marlins.

Things weren’t totally paradise, though.  In the first, Marcell Ozuna doubled to score Christian Yelich and the fish took a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Yelich grounded out, scoring J.T. Realmuto and the Marlins led 2-0.

But in the fourth, everything changed in a big way.  Luis Sardinas doubled.  Three men scored and just like that, the Padres were ahead 3-2.  Sardinas scored on an error and the Padres’ lead was two at 4-2.

In the fifth, Ryan Schimpf added on with a solo homer to make the score 5-2 Padres.

Sardinas made another appearance in the sixth with his first home run in a Padres uniform, a solo shot to make the score 6-2.

In the seventh, the Marlins got a run back on Ozuna’s single that scored Realmuto and the Padres’ lead was cut in half, 6-3.

The Padres weren’t free just yet; in the eighth, Martin Prado singled to score two and the fish were suddenly down by one, 6-5.  Yelich singled to score Realmuto and all of a sudden, the big lead was gone and we had a new ballgame, tied at six.

The Padres wouldn’t be able to send it to extra innings; Chris Johnson doubled in the ninth, scoring Jeff Francoeur and the Marlins took game one in a heartbreaking way, 7-6.

Game two is tomorrow night at 4:10 p.m.
