June 30, 2011 (Spring Valley) -- The Mount Miguel Covenant Village has come to the rescue, helping to save the San Miguel Fire District's Tactical Paramedic program. The continuing budget crisis has impacted District funding for this critical program.

On June 17,  representatives from the Mount Miguel Covenant Village presented the TacMedic team with a check for $5,000. This will help provide  funding to allow the team to deploy with Law Enforcement SWAT teams under highly hazardous conditions.

The 11 member San Miguel Tactical Paramedic team is unique in that it can respond anywhere in the County of San Diego to an active incident involving casualties in a hostile environment such as terrorist incidents or active shooters. These firefighters have undergone extensive training in providing emergency medicine during an unfolding incident of violence, with coordination of law enforcement. San Miguel Fire District Tactical Paramedics receive no additional compensation for this hazardous assignment and have all volunteered for the position of Tactical Paramedic.

Administrators and residents of Mount Miguel Covenant Village were quick to respond with their donation once they learned the program’s mission. They hope their actions will encourage others to help support the life saving efforts of the San Miguel Fire District’s Tactical Paramedic program.
