February 18, 2016 (San Diego's East County)--This week’s Destination East County includes a harpsichord and violin concert at Cuyamaca College by the San Diego Early Music Society, an author speaking on San Diego Legends, and an open artists’ studio tour in Borrego Springs.

Plus we’ll have previews of coming attractions including a concert by country music stars the Gatlin Brothers, a moonlight hike in the Anza-Borrego desert, an all-night run/walk at Pirate’s Cove along Lake Cuyamaca’s shores, the La Mesa Chamber’s Mardi Gras and Salute to Local Heroes, plus a St. Patrick’s weekend run/walk in downtown El Cajon to benefit local charities.

JACUMBA’S HEALING WATERS & ARTS FESTIVAL OFFERS REJUVENATION & ENTERTAINMENT

 

 

May 24, 2014 (Jacumba Hot Springs) – Jacumba Hot Springs (Jacumba) celebrates its Centennial with a major festival on Saturday, May 24th in downtown Jacumba. The Healing Waters & Arts Festival will stretch along Old Highway 80, from the old pink bath house ruins on the west end of town, east to the community park.

Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Parking and attendance are free. Attendees will enjoy Kumeyaay Bird Singers, Native American flute players holistic healers, New Age vendors, drum circles, bounce houses for the children, and many unique crafts, clothing and jewelry vendors. Also featured are multiple music venues, art walk with open studio tours, delectable food trucks, Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum display, Campo Motor Transport Museum displays, raffles for prizes and more, all in a beautiful high desert setting.

LEBANESE CULTURAL FESTIVAL MAY 23 IN EL CAJON

 

May 23, 2014 (El Cajon)--A Lebanese cultural festival takes place this weekend from Friday, May 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and then on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at St Ephrem Catholic Church in El Cajon.

Authentic Lebanese foods will be served, such as hummus, falafel, shawarma, tabouleh, stuffed grape leaves, chicken kabob, and a wide assortment of gourmet sweets. Visitors can expect live music and dancing, folkloric performances, and a variety of booths with Lebanese specialties, a beer & wine garden, hookah bar, carnival rides, and raffle prizes.

JACUMBA HOT SPRINGS LAUNCHES CENTENNIAL PAGE, PLANS YEAR OF CELEBRATIONS

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

February 1, 2014 (Jacumba Hot Springs) – Celebrating its 100th year, Jacumba Hot Springs in San Diego's East County has launched a Centennial website at  http://www.jacumbahotspringscentennial.org/.

The site lists upcoming festivals in this historic high desert community, plus a historical timeline, attractions and tips for visitors.  Festivals include a Blues Fest on May 3, a Healing Waters and Arts Festival on May 24, a Fall Centennial Festival on October 4, and a Feliz Navidad Christmas festival on December 6. Scroll down for more details, and visit the Centennial webpage for additional information. The site will be updated throughout the year with even more details, including a separate page for each of these unique festivals.

PALOMAR MOUNTAIN STATE PARK HOSTS APPLE FESTIVAL OCT. 27

 

 

 

 

 

October 12, 2013 (Palomar) -- Palomar Mountain State Park' invites the public to its 3rd Annual "Apple Festival", Sunday October 27th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free to the park for this fun and educational occasion.

The Park has apple trees planted by homesteading pioneers over 100 years ago--and they're still producing delicious apples to this day.  Come spend the day at the Park to enjoy food, love folk music, square dancing, games, arts and crafts with an apple harvest theme.
