BARONA POWWOW AUG. 30-SEPT. 1 CELEBRATES NATIVE AMERICAN TRADITIONS

August 8, 2019 (Lakeside) - The 49thtth annual Barona Powwow takes place Friday, August 30th through Sunday, September 1st at the Barona Sports complex on the Barona Indian reservation.

 

The public is welcome to come watch Native dancers and drummers from across the nation compete at the powwow, where you can also find craft vendors and food such as tacos made with Native American fry bread.

COUNTY LIBRARY CELEBRATES DIA ALL MONTH

 

Día de los Niños and Día de los Libros is more than a one-day affair at the County Library. Events celebrating Children’s Day/Book Day will take place throughout the month of April.

Mexico and many Latin American countries celebrate Día de Los Niños on April 30 but libraries across the U.S. now tie Children’s Day to the importance of books and literacy for children.

February 28, 2019 (Lakeside) — Lakeside Sheriff’s substation will hold a Coffee with the Community event on Tuesday, March 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lakeside Community Center, 9841 Vine St., Lakeside.

“Community outreach is a top priority of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.  Members of the community should feel comfortable bringing problems related to safety and security to our staff,” a press release from the Sheriff’s department states.

February 29, 2016 (Lakeside)--Lakeside is a rural area in the Eastern region of San Diego County. Many people find it a great place to call home, but like the rest of San Diego County, it has a growing problem with chronic disease and other health concerns.

Throughout the month of March, California Health Network, a nonprofit organization based in East County, is doing its part in improving  the health of the citizens of Lakeside by sponsoring Lakeside Health Awareness Month. Another 32 local health and fitness businesses are offering free and discounted services to  citizens of Lakeside. October  6, 2013 (Lakeside) – The Lakeside Chamber of Commerce will host its first annual Beans, Beers & Business Fair on Saturday, October 12th from 10am to 5pm at the Lakeside Rodeo Grounds.
