July 27, 2023 (Lakeside) -- You're invited to come support first responders and help keep your community safe.  Lakeside Fire Dept. will host a pancake breakfast on Saturday,, August 26 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fire Station 2, locaetd at 12216:Lakeside Avenue in Lakeside.

This event will include fire engines, face painting, a dunk tank, CPR lessons and more.

PILOT MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING NEAR SCHOOL PLAYGROUND IN EL CAJON

October 25, 2020 (El Cajon) – A pilot who took off from Gillespie Field for a practice made an emergency landing on a field next to a playground at W.D. Hall Elementary School in El Cajon Friday afternoon after the plane stalled. Fortunately, no one was injured.
 
The pilot told 10 News that he had been flying for decades.
 
The wing of his small plane suffered damage from hitting a fence or trees, according to eyewitness reports.

SAN MIGUEL FIRE DISTRICT BOARD ANNEXES PEPPER DRIVE AREA

21-YEAR-OLD MAN KILLED IN HEAD-ON CRASH IN LAKESIDE

June 23, 2013 (Lakeside) – A head-on collision late last night on Lake Jennings Road just west of El Monte Road in Lakeside resulted in two dramatic rescues and one fatality.  The crash involved a four-door Altima sedan and a four-door Jeep.

Sheriff’s deputies were first on the scene and extinguished a fire in the Altima. Lakeside Fire Protection District arrived to find two patients trapped in their vehicles and another who had self extricated.  Lakeside resident Harold Wise IV, 21, the driver of the Altima, was pronounced dead at the scene.

LAKESIDE FIRE STATION GRAND OPENING

December 19, 2011 (Lakeside) -- Dignitaries and VIPs braved the blustery wind for the grand opening of the new Lakeside Fire District Administration Office and combination Fire Station #2 on December 16.  It was branded a "sneak preview" since the station has about two weeks worth of finishing work to be done by the contractors.  Firefighters are hoping to be moved into the now empty 24,000 square foot structure by mid-January.
