May 24, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) – Community opposition is growing to a bill, AB 2145, that would make it harder for communities to invest in clean energy through community choice aggregation, i.e., giving consumers alternatives on where to buy their electricity. Supervisors Dianne Jacob and Dave Roberts are among those who have signed a petition asking the State Legislature to oppose the measure. PETITION LAUNCHED TO SAVE ANCIENT NATIVE AMERICAN KOKOPILLI GEOGLYPH

November 24, 2013 (San Diego’s East County ) – Earlier this year, we covered Robert Lundahl’s powerful documentary about threats to ancient, large-scale Native American geoglyphs—sacred sites that stand in the way of massive energy projects.

Now an online petition implores President Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell to stop the destruction of these sacred sites near Blythe, California along the Colorado River. A related spoke wheel geoglyph in Ocotillo was also at risk and now stands surrounded by wind turbines. But now an ancient Kokopillo is at risk of being destroyed completely.

May 19, 2012 (San Diego)—When Medi-Cal cut Raul Carranza’s round-the-clock nursing care, the paralyzed student feared for his future. “Please join us so we can stop these cuts and save not only my life, but thousands of others,” Carranza said at the time, organizing rallies in an effort to restore in-home healthcare services.

The Anza-Borrego Foundation opposes the proposed Ocotillo Wind Energy Facility, which will cause profound negative impacts on our desert wildlife, scenic vistas, and our pocketbooks.
We urge you to sign an online petition to help ABF oppose this project.

PETITION LAUNCHED TO OVERTURN BOUNDARY CHANGES IN GROSSMONT UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT

January 7, 2012 (San Diego’s East County) – A petition has been launched by residents of the Grossmont Union High School District asking the Board to rescind boundary changes that impact approximately 3,675 current students as well as many more future students. Gregory Kerrebrock, who launched the online petition, says many homeowners and parents were never notified. “Our voices were not heard in the original decision making process,” the petition reads. “Do you know how this may affect you or your school children or property value?”
