October 22, 2015 (Santee and Escondido)--Tellabration is a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling.  Storytelling is the conveying of events in words, images and sounds, often by improvisation or embellishment.  Stories or narratives have been shared in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation and in order to instill moral values.  Crucial elements of stories and storytelling include plot, characters and narrative point of view.

TELLABRATION IS HAPPENING IN SANTEE ON NOV. 17

November 14, 2012 (Santee) – Tellabration, a worldwide storytelling event is coming to Santee on November 17 from 7:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. at Summit Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 8778 Cottonwood Avenue. Guilds and storytelling enthusiasts all around the globe will share their storytelling talents in concerts held in cities and towns to celebrate the ancient art of storytelling.

“WHISPERS IN THE WIND” STORYTELLING JULY 22

July 21, 2012 (San Diego) – Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation presents the 2nd Annual “Whispers in the Wind” storytelling event on July 22 at 3:00 p.m. in the Visitor Center Theater, One Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego.  The stories are a collection of time-honored Native American folklore and animal tales.

Two of San Diego County’s best storytellers; Mary Holma and Cynthia Griffin, will spin tales to create a sense of appreciation for nature and a people’s oral traditions celebrating it.

A TELLING EXPERIENCE: DAVID NOVAK TO PERFORM AT LA MESA LIBRARY MAR. 3

 
February 25, 2012 (La Mesa) -- One of the nation's leading performers in the storytelling revival, David Novak, will be hosting a free family performance at the La Mesa Library, 8074 Allison Ave. The event will take place on Saturday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. and is sponsored by Young Audiences and is offered in celebration of Read Across America, the National Education Association's annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading.
