SUPERVISOR JACOB ASKS BOARD TO APPROVE EMERGENCY EVACUATION ROUTE FOR CREST

October 14, 2019 (Crest) – During the 2003 Cedar Fire that destroyed many homes in Crest, community residents found themselves trapped in gridlock on La Cresta Road, the primary evacuation route. On Tuesday, October 15, Supervisor Dianne Jacob will ask the County Board of Supervisors to approve acquiring easements from landowners over Suncrest Truck Trial as an emergency evacuation route.

September 2, 2016 (San Diego's East County) - One negative factor from this week’s fire on Skyline Truck Trail.

I personally called my neighbors at work to let them know that a fire had broken out close to their homes and that the should head home to take care of their homes, horses and pets.  Most of them had a difficult time getting home because so many by-standers were parked on the shoulders of Skyline taking pictures with their phones that also included several Border Patrol cars, REALLY! If anything they should have been going from car to car getting them to move on and clear the road.

NUCLEAR DISASTER SURVIVORS AND EAST COUNTY RESIDENTS JOIN PROTEST AT SAN ONOFRE

May 3, 2012 (San Onofre)—Residents from across Southern California and as far away as Japan turned out for a protest at San Onofre this week to call for a permanent shut down of  nuclear reactors which have been offline since January 31 amid growing safety concerns following a steam leakage and discovery of cracked tubes. 
 
Yesterday, however Southern California Edison however announced its intent to bring the facilities back online by mid-June, if the Nuclear Regulary Commission grants approval.
