June 5, 2019 (Secaucus, N.J.) - The Padres took seven consecutive pitchers yesterday on day two.  One East County kid was drafted. Today is the day to end all days: the final day of the draft and rounds 11-40, also known as the lightning rounds.  Click the cut to see who the Padres took and be on the lookout for any East County kids.

May 30, 2017 (El Cajon) - The last time former West Hills High standout Jeremiah Barr played in a big-time stadium, many thought his baseball career might be over.

Playing as a senior for the Wolf Pack, "J-Barr" dislocated his kneecap while swinging at a pitch after his cleat became lodged in the rubberized batting box at Petco Park, considered one of the cathedral ballparks in Major League Baseball.

GROSSMONT COLLEGE BASEBALL: LABARRE THROWS SIX INNINGS OF ONE-HIT, SHUTOUT BALL; GRIFFINS WIN 7-0

(EL CAJON) - A common baseball axiom states that good pitching always beats good hitting. Six innings of one-hit shutout pitching by Grossmont College starter Greg LaBarre made it difficult to argue with such reasoning. His dominant performance on the mound helped the Griffins to a 7-0 win Saturday over the visiting Lancers of Pasadena City College.
