November 26, 2012 (San Diego)--Did you know that right now that we are actually in a seller’s market and prices are starting to go up? If you are a buyer waiting for the bottom of the market to buy, news flash, you already missed it by a couple of months! Every day I speak with buyers and sellers that believe we are still in a declining market, when in actuality it’s the other way around.

SAN DIEGO COUNCIL APPROVES PROPERTY VALUE PROTECTION ORDINANCE

November 20, 2012 (San Diego)—By a 5-3 vote, San Diego’s City Council voted last week to pass the Property Value Protection Ordinance (PVPO) aimed at helping banks clean up blighted foreclosure properties.  It requires banks to register with the city and pay a $76 fee whenever they take action to foreclose a home. The registry makes it possible to immediately identify the bank responsible for a blighted property, and the fee revenue will increase code enforcement staff to hold banks accountable for neglected properties.

CITIZENS BOND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE ISSUES ANNUAL REPORT ON HOSPITAL BOND EXPENDITURES

 
April 20, 2012  (La Mesa) -- A volunteer citizens group that is overseeing how the taxpayer-supported Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD) is spending millions of dollars in voter-approved public financing for infrastructure improvement construction projects at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa has issued its 2011 Annual Report to the Community.

District 51 Congressional candidate seeks more money from residents for local government

April 2, 2012 (San Diego's East County)--A new state bill proposed by District 40 Senator Juan Vargas would modify existing law based on Property and Business Improvement District Law of 1994 to make it possible for municipalities to levy assessments to pay for improvements in the district without the 2/3 voter approval by people who would pay it.

COUNTY ANNOUNCES NEW AGRICULTURAL LANDS CONSERVATION PROGRAM: APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED NOW THROUGH MARCH 1

 
January 23, (2012)--The County of San Diego is initiating a new agricultural conservation pilot program known as the Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easement (PACE) program. The PACE program is intended to promote the long term preservation of agriculture in the County. The program is based on the framework of what is traditionally referred to as a Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) program.

BLOCK BILL TO PROVIDE PROPERTY TAX BREAKS FOR DISABLED VETS SIGNED INTO LAW BY GOVERNOR

August 18, 2010 (Sacramento) -- Assemblymember Marty Block (AD-78) announced today that his AB 2314 has been signed by the Governor. A bipartisan measure overwhelmingly approved by the Legislature, this legislation makes it easier for disabled veterans to receive a special property tax exemption available to them by extending the time frame for filing a claim.
