FAMILY ASKS HELP TO FIND MAN MISSING AT RISK: LAST SEEN IN ENCANTO JAN. 25

February 7, 2024 (San Diego) – Joseph “Joe” Mackey, 37, went missing from an independent living facility in Encanto on January 25.  He is considered high risk and needs medical attention.

His sister, Wendy Hayes, says her brother is "the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet." She told ECM that he was stable for 10 years with a mental health condition, but recently went off medications. On January 25, she says, “he apparently walked out because he was told that his house was closing and he was going to have to move...Now we are just beside ourselves...He had been missing for two weeks before we heard about it.”

Mackey is 5 ft. 11 inches tall, weighs around 150-160 pounds and has lost weight since the photos on this flyer were taken.  He has tattoos including a Chargers emblem on his left shoulder, a clown with gun on his right shoulder, Lil Kim on his back and bones on his left forearm.  He  may  no longer have facial hair and may not be wearing his glasses. He may be wearing shorts and a T-shirt with pieces of cut or torn clothing wrapped around his waist, neck or arms.

Hayes says the family is "beside ourselves" with concern and that family members gave been out daily searching for her brother.

SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR MISSING RUNNER AT MISSION TRAILS

 

Update:  The body of Max  Lenail has been found in Mission Trails Regional Park, his parents have confirmed on Facebook.  His father indicated that the death was apparently the result of a tragic accident.

January 30, 2021 (San Diego) – A search is underway in Mission Trails Regional Park for Maximilian “Max” Lenail. The 21-year-old man left North Park to go for a run in Mission Trails Regional Park on January 29. Heleft his white Subaru Outback parked at the trailhead, but has not been seen since, according to a flyer circulated in a Facebook group set up to help find him.

He was last seen wearing bright orange running shorts and a gray tank top at 10:30 a.m. yesterday. He is 5 feet, eight inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

 “A land search started at 9 a.m. this morning at the trailhead,” Heath Meyer, a friend of Lenail, told ECM in an email this morning.

MISSING DESCANSO MAN, 81, AT RISK: LAST SEEN IN GOLD TOYOTA TRUCK

October 11, 2020 (Descanso) – The Sheriff asks for public help to find Kenneth Zimmerman, 81, who suffers from Alzheimer’s and did not take his blood pressure medicine before leaving home in Descanso to get a newspaper earlier today. He was last seen at 12:30 p.m. driving toward Highway 79 from Viejas Blvd in Descanso in a gold Toyota Tundra(license CA 8E41946) with a black toolbox in the bed.  He frequents businesses in Alpine as well as the El Cajon Home Depot.

He does not have a cell phone with him, according to a bulletin issued by the Pine Valley Sheriff’s station.Zimmerman was last seen wearing a white cowboy hat, dark blue short-sleeve shirt and blue jeans.  He has blue eyes and white hair. He is white, 81, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs around 190 pounds.

June 12, 2018 (Lakeside) – Lakeside Sheriff’s Department seeks help to find Bobby G. Applewhite, 69, who went missing yesterday at noon in lakeside. He has memory loss and is unfamiliar with the area.

He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt with black vertical stripes, brown Docker shorts, a tan boonie-style hat and Velcro sandals with long white socks,

May 24, 2018 (Spring Valley) -- A Spring Valley man who suffered a stroke has gone missing from Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest.
 
Gregory Gavino, 52, lives on Lamar Street in Spring Valley. San Diego Police reported him missing early this morning and posted that he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and cognitive impairment. The San Diego Union-Tribune later reported that he had a stroke that left the right side of his body partially paralyzed, so he walked with a limp.
 
He is white with dark hair, 5 ft. 6 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, and was wearing a red shirt or sweatshirt and jeans or hospital pants. He may have on hospital socks and a hospital arm band.

MISSING MAN’S CAR FOUND IN JACUMBA HOT SPRINGS, DISAPPEARANCE DEEMED “SUSPICIOUS”

May 16, 2016 (Jacumba Hot Springs) – A Honda Civic belonging to a missing Buena Park man, Jonathan Barmaki, has been found by Border Patrol agents on Old Highway 80 near a welcome sign to Jacumba Hot Springs on May 9th. Agents found Barmaki's cherished 15-year-old dog, Andy,  dead inside the vehicle.

The vehicle was not out of gas and Barmaki’s wallet and keys were missing, though his cell phone, along with dog food and a dog bowl, were left in the car. The car windows were rolled up and footsteps from the vehicle led 70 feet to a border fence 25 feet high. Authorities are investigating the disappearance as"suspicious,"10 News reports.

AUTISTIC MAN MISSING IN SANTEE HAS BEEN FOUND

 

Update March 20:  Missing Persons of America has advised ECM that Joseph Swett has been found and is safe.

March 17, 2014 (Santee) – San Diego Sheriff’s Department and the family of 20 year-old Joseph Swett and the San Diego Sheriff's Department requests public help in finding the missing man, who has been diagnosed with autism.  He was last seen wearing a bright orange shirt, red shorts and black shoes.  He is white, has short brown hair, brown eyes, and was unshaven.  He stands five feet 10 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.

Swett came to Santee with his mother and brother from Los Angeles to attend a Christian college for two weeks. Shortly after 3:00 p.m. today, his mother and brother left the motel room in the 10700 block of Woodside Avenue in Santee to get lunch.  Swett remained in the motel room to take a nap. When his mother and brother returned,  Swett was gone.

MISSING PERSON SOUGHT: HENRY CAMARENA

 

 

February 20, 2014 (San Diego’s East County)--  Sheriff’s Deputies at the Rancho San Diego station ask public help to locate Henry Camarena, 38.  He has not been seen of heard from by family or friends since Sunday, February 16. 

Camarena has health issues and requires daily medication, said Detective Moore.  He may be driving a white 2013 Nissan Versa with California license late 6ZAF275.

MISSING MAN WITH ALZHEIMER’S IN EL CAJON, LAST SEEN ON TROLLEY

October 9, 2013 (El Cajon ) – At 7:46 p.m. tonight, Domingues Salvador, 67, boarded a trolley at 352 South Marshall Avenue in El Cajon after becoming separated from his spouse at the trolley station.  Domingues has Alzheimer’s disease, speaks Spanish, and only knows his name.  He has no identification or money.

He is Hispanic with white hair and brown eyes.  He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.  He was wearing a black jacket and sky blue pants.

MiSSING EL CAJON MAN FOUND

 

Update October 8, 2013 - Johnny Singleton has been found in the 600 block of Main Street and is now home with family, according to a Sheriff's tweet thanking community members for tips.

October 6, 2013 (El Cajon) – A search is underway  to find  64-year-old Johnny Singleton. He walked away from his home in the 200 block of Hart Drive in the unincorporated area of El Cajon around 2:00 p.m. today.  He has medical issues which put him at risk. He might be trying to find his way back to his old neighborhood in the City of San Diego at 30th Street and Imperial Avenue.

Johnny was last seen wearing a light grey polo shirt with horizontal stripes, blue jeans, white and blue Nike shoes and a ball cap. He has a goatee and short grey hair. He does not drive a car. He likes football, Pepsi and tacos.

MISSING SPRING VALLEY MAN FOUND SAFE

September 1, 2013 (Spring Valley) --  La Mesa Police have located Ramon Leggs, 76, who was an at risk missing person. Below is the original missing person report.

Mr. Leggs suffers from hypertension, diabetes, dementia and he has difficulty walking. He is a resident at New Brighton Place, which is located at 9009 Campo Road in Spring Valley. He was last seen on 08/31/2013 at approximately 5:30 PM in the area of Bancroft Drive and State Route 94. Mr. Leggs left on foot. He has no money or cell phone.

Mr. Leggs is described as a Hispanic male adult, 5' 7" tall, 170 pounds, gray hair with a beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing a dark green t-shirt, blue shorts, long white socks and black shoes.

FAMILY SEEKS HELP TO FIND MISSING SANTEE MAN

 

August 29, 2013 (Santee) updated August 30, 2013 --– The family of Jonathan Heredia, 29,  seeks public help to locate the Santee resident who has been missing since August 26.  According to family, he suffers from mental health issues and depression. 

Heredia is Hispanic with dark hair and brown eyes.  He weighs 160 pounds and stands 5 feet 10 inches tall. He has a crucifix tattoo on his back with the words “our Lord” , a dice tattoo on his chest and a tattoo on his forearm that reads “69.”  He was last seen wearing a black dress shirt, grey jeans, black jacket with grey on the back, and may be seen with navy blue shorts with white stripes on the side.

MISSING SPRING VALLEY MAN WITH DEMENTIA

 

July 23, 2013 (Spring Valley) -- The San Diego Sheriff seeks public help to locate Kenneth Lamb, 79, who has dementia and takes blood-thinning medication. According to friends and neighbors, he became increasingly confused in the past week.  He was last seen at 2 a.m. on July 20 standing in a neighbor's yard in Spring Valley, where he has lived for 30 years. His routine includes church and working in yards in the La Mesa area.

His vehicle, a gold 1999 Ford Franger pickup truck with extra cab, is also missing.  The California license is 6N22819.  It had a piece of plywood in the truck bed.

POLICE SEEK MISSING SENIOR CITIZEN

 

June 2, 2013 (Chula Vista)--Chula Vista Police Department seeks help to find missing at-risk adult Robert Schilling, who has memory issues.  He has been known to use public transportation and used to live in North County.  He walks with a cane, has several medical issues requiring medication and is not familiar with the area. 

He was last seen at his south Chula Vista residence at 10:20 a.m.  He was wearing a green t-shirt with "Ireland" and the Irish flag on it, dark sweat pants and house slippers.  Mr. Schilling, 72, is white, 5'7" tall, 140 pounds, with a white beard, thinning white hair and dark framed prescription eyeglasses.

SHERIFF SEEKS HELP TO FIND MISSING SANTEE MAN WITH DEMENTIA

Update:  Santee reader Jerrie Dean informs us that her mother saw Larry Negrette return to his mobilehome park today.  The Sheriff's office confirms with the following details:

On Monday, May 27, 2013 at around 10:15 p.m., Mr. Larry Negrette was located in the 10200 block of Ashwood Street in Lakeside. Mr. Negrette had contacted a resident on Ashwood Street and asked for food. The resident provided Mr. Negrette with food and water. As the resident and Mr. Negrette spoke, Mr. Negrette appeared disoriented and could not remember his address or phone number. The resident became concerned for Mr. Negrette and decided to notify the Sheriff's Department. Deputies from the Santee Station responded and contacted Mr. Negrette. He was reunited with his family.

May 27, 2013 (Santee) – Larry Negrette, 70, has been missing form his home in the 9400 block of Mission Gorge Road, Santee, since 5 p.m. Saturday May 25.  He suffers from dementia and high blood pressure.

His family is extremely concerned for his welfare. His vehicle is inoperable and accounted for.  Negrette is Hispanic with grey hair, receding hair line, brown eyes, and a mustache.  He is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 210 pounds. He was last seeing wearing blue jeans, T-shirt, and white sneakers.

MISSING LEMON GROVE MAN WITH ALZHEIMER’S LAST SEEN IN SAN DIEGO

Update May 19: Smith has been found safe in San Ysidro.

May 18, 2013 (Lemon Grove) -- The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is searching for a missing person at risk.  James Edward Smith of Lemon Grove is on medication for dementia and is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s.  Smith, 66, was last seen driving his 2006 Silver Chrysler 300 four-door sedan with CA license plate 5XLV296.

Smith is described by authorioties as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 207 pounds, bald, with brown eyes and a mustache.  He was last seen wearing a tan and brown jacket, baggy blue jeans, and a tan baseball cap.

He was last seen leaving Willy's Electronics on Mercury Street in San Diego on May 16 at 02:55 p.m., alone in his vehicle. He may have been heading to Harbor Freight supply in Chula Vista. He never arrived at the supply store, and never arrived home in the 1800 block of El Prado Ave, Lemon Grove.

SEARCH ON FOR MISSING BONITA MAN, 80, WHO NEEDS OXYGEN

 

Update June 22:  Joe Rodrigues is safe after walking into a medical clinic; he was hospitalized overnight for observation.

June 21, 2012 (Bonita) – The Sheriff seeks public help to find Joe Rodrigues, an 80-year-old Hispanic man who uses oxygen at night and walks with a cane. He walked away from his residence at 3709 Glen Verde Court in Bonita between 4 and 7:50 p.m. yesterday.

Although his destination is unknown, authorities say he may be heading toward his prior residence in downtown San Diego. He may have been wearing a dark baseball cap, long-sleeve blue shirt and glasses.  He is 5 feet 10 and weighs about 180 pounds.

LA MESA POLICE SEEK HELP TO FIND MISSING MAN



Update:  Mr. McKenzie has been found safely, ECM has been informed by family.

May 22, 2012 (La Mesa) -- La Mesa Police seek public help to find A.McKenzie, last seen in a silver 2011 Honda Insight (license CA 6SCK316) heading west on I-8 at 2 a.m. on May 21 near Pine Valley.  His daughter found what appeared to be a suicide note at 12:30 a.m. yesterday.

MEDICAL EXAMINER SEEKS HELP TO IDENTIFY MAN KILLED BY TRAIN


November 5, 2011 (San Diego) – The San Diego Medical Examiner seeks public help to identify a man struck and killed by an Amtrak train on October 28 at 4 a.m. at Pacific Highway and West Washington Street. His fingerprints have been run through national and local databases, but no match has been found.

MISSING DIABETIC MAN, 85, IN SPRING VALLEY

May 19, 2011 (Spring Valley) -- The Sheriff seeks public help to locate Oscar Leyva Gonzales, 85. The elderly man, who has diabetes, went missing from Presidio Healthcare, a board and care facility at 3825 Lamar Street in Spring Valley five days ago on May 14.  The Sheriff did not notify media until today.

 

He does not have his medications with him.  He was wearing a black button-up shirt, black pants and sneakers.

 Update February 13, 2011 -- San Diego Police report that Richard Johannis has been found safe in Mexico. 

 

February 12, 2011 (San Diego) – San Diego Police seek help to locate an elderly man who has medical issues from a recent stroke. Richard Johannis, 79, has been missing since Thursday night, Feb. 10 at 9 p.m. and has no coat or warm clothing with him.

 

He was last seen at 7600 Alvarado Road in San Diego, near Alvarado Hospital. Johannis was driving his 1997 white, four-door Chevy Lumina, California license 5GJF330.

SKULL FOUND IN LAKESIDE

September 8, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Authorities battling the Monte Fire found a human skull on a trail in the Cleveland National Forest, East County Magazine has learned. The grisly find occurred on August 22 at 4 p.m., the San Diego Medical Examiner’s office has confirmed.
