Appraiser says average loss in home values is 25 percent

January 28, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) --East County residents who oppose a growing collection of industrial wind turbines proposed near rural residences have discovered that they have much in common with wind farm neighbors in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Japan, Canada and other parts of the United States. Residents who have lived near windmills for years are now publicizing impacts to health and property values.

In fact, a standing-room-only crowd got an earful on those impacts last Wednesday, when experts from Illinois and Canada discussed them at the Boulevard Fire Station.

November 10, 2010 (Campo) -- In association with Santa Claus, the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo announces the sixth annual North Pole Limited Christmas Trains. Rides begin Thanksgiving weekend on November 26 and run through December 18.

September 3, 2010 (Campo) – The Cowboy Fire, which has burned 822 acres, was started by two illegal immigrants who were in distress, Cal-Fire reports.

“They called C4, which is Mexico’s emergency dispatch system, and advised them that they had been lost for two days, were stranded, dehydrated, and were going to light a signal fire to attempt to get some help,” said Roxanne Provaznik, public information officer for Cal-Fire.

July 25, 2010 (Live Oak Spring) –  Crystal Lopez, 15, has been identified as the victim in a fatality rollover accident that occurred shortly after 10 a.m. July 24 on I-8 east near Crestwood Road.  Lopez died and her mother was also injured. 

 According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office, the mother was driving when she heard a “pop” and lost control of the vehicle.

June 29, 2010 (Campo) – Luis Alberto Duran, 21, of Campo was arrested yesterday and charged with assault resulting in the death of his infant daughter.

On Friday, deputies and paramedics were called to the family’s home in the 1800 block of Campo Truck Trail after receiving a medical assistance call reporting a four-month-old infant who was not breathing. The baby, who exhibited no outward signs of trauma, was pronounced dead at the scene.
