In particular, children and teens are likely struggling to make sense of the things they are seeing and hearing regarding the tragedy on television, at school, and among their peers. Many children will have questions and be in need of additional comfort in the coming days and weeks. San Diego County Library has put together a list of resources that parents can use to help answer questions and reassure children of their safety and comfort.

May 5, 2012 (San Diego) -- Forest Service officials are seeking public comments on a Proposed Amendment to the Land Management Plans for the four Southern California National Forests (including the Cleveland National Forest in San Diego County as well as the Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres, and San Bernardino Forests. The Proposed Amendment would modify existing land use zones allocations in selected roadless areas to include more back country non-motorized and recommended wilderness areas. An alternate monitoring framework is also proposed.

March 25, 2012 (Washington, D.C.) -- Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) moved to make sure adequate resources are available for a strong enforcement mechanism to protect consumers. Davis and 98 of her colleagues sent a letter to House appropriators urging robust funding for the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The CFTC is charged with regulating Wall Street, which includes speculation in the oil markets that are driving up gas prices.
