NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD DISMISSES SHARP HEALTHCARE’S UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICE CHARGES AGAINST SEIU-UHW

June 1, 2023 (La Mesa) -- Today, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) dismissed both unfair labor practice charges that Sharp healthcare filed against SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) regarding an election in which 1500 workers at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa voted to form a union.

March 7, 2020 (La Mesa)--Sharp Healthcare, which operates Sharp Grossmont Hospital and other medical facilities in our region, has set up a webpage on the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) with information on steps Sharp is taking to protect against the virus and what the public should know.
 
There is currently no vaccine for COVID-19, which is spreading around the world.  Here are tips to help stop spread of the respiratory virus:

GROSSMONT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION APPOINTS NEW MEMBERS TO 2013 BOARD OF GOVERNORS

December 30, 2012 (La Mesa)--The Grossmont Hospital Foundation recently appointed three new members – Harry Ellison, M.D., Lew Silverberg and Philip Szold, M.D. – to its 2013 Board of Governors. Each appointee serves a three-year term, which began October 1, 2012.

The Grossmont Hospital Foundation Board of Governors mission is to establish policy for the Foundation, determine its fundraising priorities, and support Sharp Grossmont Hospital in developing high-quality, accessible and affordable inpatient and outpatient services to the residents of San Diego’s East County community.

READER'S EDITORIAL: GROSSMONT HEALTHCARE DISTRICT SHOULD NOT FUND ENERGY COGENERATION EXPANSION WITH BORROWED MONEY

February 9, 2012 (La Mesa)--In 2006 East County voters approved Proposition "G" authorizing the sale of general obligation bonds of $247 million to provide and improve various facilities at Grossmont Hospital. Included is an expansion of the hospital's central energy plant. The Grossmont Healthcare District is now considering adding a cogeneration feature to the plant  to be acquired through a "lease/purchase" agreement for $17,900,000 to be paid over a ten year (120 month) period at a rate of around $2,000,000 per year.
