April 5, 2015 (Lemon Grove) –The Lemon Grove Council will meet on Tuesday, April 7 at 6 p.m. in the Lemon Grove Community Center (3146 School Lane).
This week, Council will consider an agreement with San Diego Unified School District to house and staff a mass decontamination unit. Council will also review goals and priorities from its Strategic Planning workshop and hear a motion to reject all bids received on a sewer upsizing project.
April 5, 2015 (Lemon Grove) – The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is the world’s largest fundraising event to end cancer. The Lemon Grove Relay for Life event will be held on Sunday, May 16th starting at 9 a.m. at Lemon Grove Middle School, 7866 Lincoln Avenue.
This occasion unites communities around the world to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. The family-friendly event features food, entertainment, games and activities. Organized teams have members from their teams walk around the track during the entire 24 hours of the event, symbolizing that “cancer never sleeps.”
April 3, 2015 (El Cajon )—El Cajon’s second annual America on Main Street festival will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown El Cajon. This family-fun celebration honoring the American spirit will feature four stages with live entertainment, a Ferris wheel, petting zoo, pony rides and hay rides.

April 6, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) – Democrat Rudy Reyes, a Cedar Fire burn survivor who has run for Supervisor in the past, advised ECM today that he is entering the race in the 2nd Supervisorial district. State Senator Joel Anderson, a Republican, has also announced plans to challenge incumbent Supervisor Dianne Jacob, a Republican who has held the seat for more than two decades.
A three-way race could make it difficult for any candidate to win outright with over 50% of the vote, making a run-off race between the two top vote getters more likely. There is still time for additional candidates to file to run.
If Jacob is reelected in 2016, this would be her final term of office due to term limits approved by voters. She has received over 200 endorsements including Sheriff Bill Gore, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, Supervisors Greg Cox and Ron Roberts, Congressman Darrell Issa, and dozens of elected officials in East County.
April 4, 2015 (San Diego) – A San Diego man who operated a revenge porn site called UGotPosted.com has been sentenced to 18 years in jail after being convicted on 21 counts of identity theft and six counts of extortion. Kevin Bollaert is the first person in the nation prosecuted for operating a revenge porn site.
Update April 5, 2015 (San Diego's East County) -- Cal Fire has ended the no-burn proclamation due to improving conditions, higher humidity and availability of fire resources..
April 4, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) – Effective immediately, Cal Fire has issued a no-burn proclamation suspending burning permits and other uses of open fire, except for campfires in established campfire facilities in public campgrounds.
The order is due to the “extreme menace” posed by critical fire weather and acute dryness of vegetation and/or fire suppression forces being heavily committed to control fires, according to Dave Nissan, Deputy Chief of Cal-Fire’s San Diego unit.
April 3, 2015 (El Cajon) – In response to reports of multiple sexual harassment and sexual misconduct claims against the El Cajon Police department through the years, we asked City Manager Doug Williford how many women are on the police force, including management. We also asked what policies have been put in place that aim to prevent sexual harassment.

Brown Jr. today announced actions that will save water, prevent water waste and invest in new technologies that will make California more drought resilient. The mandatory order requires all cities and counties to cut water use by 25 percent.
