March 10, 2015 (Spring Valley ) – An altercation outside Sarita’s Taco Shop on Campo Road in Spring Valley early Monday led to a stabbing and gunshots fired, Sergeant David Toner with the Sheriff’s Department in Rancho San Diego reports.

BORDER AGENT CHARGED WITH VIDEO VOYEURISM AND FALSE STATEMENTS

March 9, 2015 (San Diego) -- FBI Special Agent Eric S. Birnbaum has announced the arrest of Armando Gonzalez, a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Agent accused of videotaping women with a hidden video camera  in the bathroom of a Customs and Border Protection building in Chula Vista. A federal complaint unsealed today reveals that Gonzalez, 46, has been charged with video voyeurism and making false statements.

AMBER ALERT: SUICIDAL SUSPECT KIDNAPS 1-YEAR-OLD; FLED IN GREY NISSAN ALTIMA

Update Marh 10, 2015: The kidnapped boy has been found safe in Tijuana, along with his father, who has been taken into custody.

March 9, 2015 (San Diego) – A statewide Amber Alert has been issued for a 1-year-old boy, Jayden Santiago. He was kidnapped by his father, who violently attacked the child’s mother and stabbed her boyfriend at her home in San Pedro, California at 1:30 p.m. The father has made suicidal threats and is considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect, Giovany Santiago Enriquez, 38, was last seen driving a grey 2006 Nissan Altima with CA license 5UCF010.  He is 5 feet 8 inches tall, 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black beanie, black sweater, black Dickies pants and gray and black Nike shoes.

The victim, Jayden, is Hispanic, 2 feet tall, 26 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a light brown and green sweater, green and brown striped onesie, and black and white Nike shoes.

SHOOTING ON I-8 ONRAMP: MAN INJURED IN EL CAJON

 

March 2, 2015 (El Cajon) – A dark Toyota Tercel occupied by two Hispanic men in their 20s that left Sycuan Casino shortly after 3:30 a.m. The Toyota reportedly followed a couple in a pickup truck, then opened fire just before the vehicle entered eastbound I-8 from the West Main Street onramp.  The driver of the pickup was struck by a bullet in his shoulder.

PIZZA CARJACKER HALTED BY HAZMAT SPILL

February 24, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) – Happy’s Pizza delivery person was not so happy Monday night when he was held up at gunpoint by two masked suspects. 

The thieves called in a pizza order and when the delivery driver arrived at a house in the 1100 block of West Chase Avenue in El Cajon, they brandished a gun and stole his SUV, cell phone, cash and even his shoes, El Cajon Police Department reports.

The suspects handed off the stolen SUV to a woman near the 1200 block of El Cajon Boulevard.  She drove into La Mesa, where she encountered a street closure on Amaya Drive due to a hazmat incident from a big rig fuel spill.  La Mesa Police spotted the stolen vehicle and stopped the driver to question her.

February 20, 2015 (Lakeside) – A 21-year-old substitute custodian with the Grossmont Union High School District was arrested yesterday after texting a 14-year-old female student to arrange an off-campus sexual liaison. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Sexual Assault Unit and Santee Sheriff’s station are continuing the investigation to determine if there are any additional victims.

DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN SPRING VALLEY; SHERIFF SEEKS LEADS TO LOCATE SUSPECTS

February 17, 2015 (Spring Valley )—Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred early this morning at 2:45 a.m. near the intersection of Bancroft Drive and Kenwood Drive in Spring Valley, an unincorporated community in San Diego's East County.

The suspect vehicle, a white or silver BMW-type sedan occupied by at least two black males, was last seen traveling northfrom the shooting scene toward state route 94. The victim, an adult male, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, says Sergeant Pat McCoy.

February 13, 2015 (La Mesa)- At the La Mesa city council meeting Tuesday,  former Police Chief Ed Aceves presented the quarterly crime report-and some good news:  crime last year declined from 2013. Chief Aceves said the crime rate overall is down, “the lowest it’s been since 2011.”

He also presented  charts.  One showed that in 2014, there were no homicides.  However there were  16 rapes, 68 robberies, and 124 aggravated assaults (assault with some type of injury). The aggravated assault  had the biggest increase from 2013. 28 robbery cases were cleared, or solved, in 2014.

February 10, 2015 (El Cajon) - 9:06 p.m. -- The El Cajon SWAT team has surrounded a home at Prescott & Noden in El Cajon, seeking suspect Mike Montana wanted for shooting of CBS News 8 sports anchor Kyle Kraska. Kraska was shot and seriously wounded earlier today outside his Scripps Rancho home.

There are many emergency vehicles in the area of Chase and Avocado in the vicinity of the SWAT action, ECM reporter Paul Kruz reports.  AVOID AREA. View map .

MAN CHARGED IN DEATH OF EAST COUNTY WOMAN

February 6, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) – Eugene Niggel has been charged with first degree murder and domestic violence resulting in the death of Linda Sue Irwin.  Irwin was admitted to Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa on November 19, 2014 with blunt force trauma. She was transferred to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where she later died of her injuries.
