March 3, 2011 (El Cajon)--The Grossmont College Art Council presents its annual fundraising Exhibition and Auction next week. The Hyde Gallery on campus will exhibit works of 18 established artists representing a variety of disciplines.

February 25, 2011 (El Cajon)--The St. Clair Gallery in El Cajon has announced its 26th Invitational Art Exhibit, which will run from February 28 through April 1, 2011. The artists’ reception will be held on Wednesday, March 30 from 5 to 8pm. Admission is free.

GIANT JADE BUDDHA IN ESCONDIDO JAN. 29-FEB. 6; LION DANCERS JOIN CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION FEB. 2-3

 

January 28, 2011 (Escondido) -- After traveling around the world and attracting almost 5 million viisitors, the fabulous four-ton Jade Buddha for Universal Peace will be displayed outside the Escondido Center for Performing Arts Jan. 29-Feb. 6.  The exhibit is sponsored by the Phat Da Buddhist Temple of San Diego.

 

Throughout the Jade Buddha's nine day, there will be multiple daily events including musical performances, meditations, Dharma teachings, and special celebrations to ring in the Lunar New Year with Chinese lion dancing on Feb. 2-3.

GALLERY TO HOST GRAND OPENING FEB. 4 IN EL CAJON

 

January 24, 2011 (El Cajon) -- East County's newest gallery, Main Street 5 Gallery at 124 East Main Street in El Cajon, will host a grand opening event on Friday, February 4th from 5-10 p.m.  The opening will feature photographic arts by Esther Beish.

ARTISTS CONVERT VACANT BUILDING TO GALLERY: “RUINS” EXHIBIT EXTENDED THROUGH NOVEMBER

 

November 18, 2010 (El Cajon) – A coalition of artists calling themselves the 50/50 the group converted a vacant building at 140 East Main Street into a dynamic art gallery. A showing which opened last week has been extended for the full month of November.

July 5, 2010 (El Cajon) – On Friday, July 9th, fans of art, music, wine and classic cars will be prowling the streets of downtown El Cajon for the 5th annual Alley Cat Summer Fest. The event, which many consider to be the “cat’s meow,” is presented by St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center to benefit Sophie’s Art Gallery, creating opportunities for artists with developmental disabilities.

KING ARTHUR’S QUEST BRINGS NEW MUSICAL MAGIC TO POWAY PERFORMING ARTS MARCH 6

 

February 28, 2010 (Poway) -- The nation's pre-eminent participatory children's theater company returns to the Poway Center for their eleventh season. Missoula Children's Theatre will cast local children in a magical new musical. More than 50 local students will participate in a one-week theater camp that takes them from auditions to rehearsals to two full-scale productions of King Arthur's Quest.
