September 1, 2015 (La Mesa) – The delights of the summer are concluding to be supplanted by a rich selection of community offerings for fall. The final performances of the theater and concert season are joined by a variety of classes for every interest, a health fair, a craft fair, e-waste recycling, and outdoor nature and recreation activities galore.

LA MESA - MT. HELIX AUGUST ACTIVITIES

August 1, 2015 (La Mesa) – What a vibrant community we live in! August boasts five free concerts, three free movie screenings, two theater productions, the annual Helix High All Class Picnic, and the annual heART of Mt. Helix. There are free clubs for every age and interest at the La Mesa Library, a broad range of activities at the La Mesa Adult Enrichment Center, and a number of classes at the La Mesa Community Center start in August. For those who love nature there are a number of activities as Mission Trails Regional Park and the Water Conservation Garden, and for the fitness oriented there are several walking groups, aquatics, and even a boot camp. Get out and find your bliss, and while you’re at it meet your neighbors.

Grab your partner, throw on your cowboy boots and hats, and join the festivities including live Country Western music, BBQ dinner, drawings, live auction, card tricks and comedy magic, line dancing instruction, and entertaining antics by  Master of Ceremonies Yosemite Sam.

April 30, 2015 (La Mesa) – With all the activities available this month, there has to be something for everyone here.

Events range from star gazing party on Mt. Helix to a free boot camp, s SANDAG public workshops on regional growth plans through 2050, what is arguable the community's most popular event, the La Mesa Flag Day Parade (if you're not in it, you're probably watching it)... and oh, so much more.

The “Spring Fling - Business Expo” is a new event that has been requested by local businesses to provide them an opportunity to showcase their goods and services.

KIWANIS CLUB'S DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATES 75 YEARS SERVING LA MESA

February 7, 2015 (La Mesa)--Chartered in February 1940, the Kiwanis Club of La Mesa celebrates its 75th Anniversary with a special, invitation only event at the La Mesa Community Center on Thursday, February 19, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.  An opportunity drawing will be held.  Complimentary hors d’oeuvers will be served, and there will be a no-host bar. Although the event is by invitation only, persons interested in attending may contact the event chair, Glenna Bloemen, at 619-743-5192 to receive an invitation.

PLANNING COMMISSIONER AND ENVIRONMENTAL LEADER TO HEADLINE LA MESA DEMOCRATIC CLUB MEETING JUNE 6

 

“How we can affect our environment” is topic of session

May 24, 2014 (La Mesa)--San Diego Planning Commissioner Anthony Wagner will headline the June 4th meeting of the La Mesa Foothills Democratic Club at the La Mesa Community Center, 4975 Memorial Drive in La Mesa.  Wagner, an area native, also heads up the Allied Gardens Town Council and was recently Chair of Navajo Community Planners.  He’ll discuss the results of the June 3rd primary election, as well as the importance of the updated Grantville Community Plan.  As a board member of the San Diego River Park Foundation, Anthony will discuss the balance planners must reach in protecting our open spaces and valuable natural resources with the plans proposed for high-density development of the Grantville area.

SENIOR EXPO IN LA MESA OCT. 10

 

September 27, 2013 (La Mesa) – The City of La Mesa will host its fourth annual Senior Expo on Thursday, October 10, 2013.  With a wide variety of speakers and exhibitors, Expo will offer free “one-stop shopping” for all adults facing life changes that may affect their independence, or those who would like great tips on safety and security. The Expo will be held at the La Mesa Community Center, 4975 Memorial Drive, La Mesa 91942 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, and is supported by funding from the San Diego Association of Governments.

April 16, 2013 (La Mesa) – Tickets are now on sale for the 5th Annual Taste of La Mesa to be held on June 10 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the La Mesa Community Center, 4975 Memorial Drive, La Mesa.  The event features great food and desserts from local restaurants, as well as entertainment.

June 10, 2011 (La Mesa) --The City of La Mesa will host its second annual Transportation and Mobility Expo for older adults and persons with disabilities on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.  Supported by funding from SANDAG, the Expo will be held at the La Mesa Community Center, 4975 Memorial Drive, La Mesa 91942 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
