CAJON VALLEY RECEIVES GRANT FROM KAISER PERMANENTE FOR MENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

December 3, 2018 (El Cajon) -- Kaiser Permanente Southern California announced a $6 million, five-year Community Mental Health and Wellness Initiative with an immediate Local Partnership Grant (LPG) grant allocation of $1.28 million to combat and improve access to mental health services. The initial grant allocation is funding a group of two-year grants to support 16 nonprofit community partners working to improve mental health and wellness in under-resourced Southern California communities.

December 2, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State women’s basketball team (4-4) lost to Arizona 69-60 Sunday afternoon at Viejas Arena. SDSU led by as much as 12 points in the second quarter but saw Arizona storm back in the second half with hot shooting and a tricky zone defense.

December 2, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State football team has accepted an invitation to play Ohio in the Frisco Bowl on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be played at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas and will be broadcast nationally by ESPN.

December 1, 2018 (Normal, Ill.) - Devin Watson pumped in 23 points and San Diego State won its first true road game of the season, knocking off Illinois State, 75-65 in the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Conference Challenge on Saturday afternoon.

The Aztecs (5-2) played three of their first six games on neutral sites.

Our interviews included author Richard Carrico, Claudio Erickson of Unplugged Village, all four candidates for La Mesa City Council (previously published in our politics section) and discussion of the top issues across our region and our nation.

The East County Magazine Show airs Mondays and Fridays from 5 to 6 p.m. on KNSJ, 89.1 FM.  Our shows rerun on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. and Saturdays at 8 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.  (Note, our August shows reran on Fridays due to staff vacations.)
