November 10, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The community is invited to attend a special event celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County on Thursday, November 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the El Cajon Clubhouse, 1171 East Madison Avenue, (next to Wells Park) in El Cajon. Members of the community, government leaders, BGCEC Board members, major sponsors, parents and children will attend a special open house and tour of the El Cajon Clubhouse. 

MISSING DIABETIC MAN, 77, FOUND SAFE

November 8, 2011 (San Diego)—Edward Ti Lee, 77, has been found safe.

"Mr. Lee became disoriented on his drive yesterday.  He was able to find his way home this morning shortly after the missing person bulletin was sent out," said Lieutenant Andra Brown with the San Diego Police Department.

November 8, 2011 (Lemon Grove)--A crew of 300 eager volunteers are expected to join with representatives from the Sheriff’s Lemon Grove substation on Saturday, November 19 to clean up the community for the holiday season.

FREE THANKSGIVING MEALS DELIVERED TO SENIORS IN ALPINE NOV. 24


November 8, 2011 (Alpine) – Sue Roff, director of the Alpine Community Center, will once again be cooking up a Thanksgiving meal for seniors who are alone or can’t travel to be with family for the holidays. Volunteers will deliver the meals to home-bound seniors, along with gift bags filled with items donated by local merchants.

Following Federal raids on medical marijuana shops in California, Representative Bob Filner called on President Obama to reclassify medical marijuana as a legitimate controlled substance for medicinal purposes.

An ECM investigation has resulted in changes to procedures for SDG&E contractors regarding the handling of portable toilet facilities at Powerlink worksites on federal Bureau of Land Management properties.

FEMA, FCC TO HOLD NATIONWIDE TEST OF EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM NOV. 9

November 7, 2011 (San Diego)--On Wednesday, November 9 at  11 a.m. Pacific Standard Time,  the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), in conjunction with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System.

November 7, 2011 (San Diego)--On October 20, USGS under contract with the City of San Diego began operations on a new deep monitoring well in the Chollas Creek vicinity near the intersection of Home Avenue and Federal Blvd. The well is the latest in a series of multiple-depth wells being drilled in selected areas of four coastal river basins for the San Diego Hydrogeology Project.

November 5, 2011 (San Diego) – The San Diego Medical Examiner seeks public help to identify a man struck and killed by an Amtrak train on October 28 at 4 a.m. at Pacific Highway and West Washington Street. His fingerprints have been run through national and local databases, but no match has been found.
