The second image is about 50 miles north near Garnet Peak, between Mount Laguna and Julian, overlooking the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

May 8, 2019 (San Diego) - Retired attorney Robert “Bob” Ross says lawyers have a hard time agreeing to sign anything “where they aren’t able to make amendments or change words.”
But Rose — and at least seven other former San Diego federal prosecutors — did just that when they agreed to add their names to an open letter that said Donald Trump would face “multiple felony charges for obstruction of justice” if he weren’t president.
“But for the OLC memo, the overwhelming weight of professional judgment would come down in favor of prosecution for the conduct outlined in the Mueller Report,” said a Department of Justice “alumni statement” posted Monday on Medium.

May 8, 2019 (San Diego) – If you need a ride today, you may need to call a taxi or catch a trolley. Uber and Lyft drivers across San Diego County are taking part in a nationwide strike for higher wages and more transparency from the ride-sharing companies.
Some 5,000 southern California drivers plan to turn off their apps today, according to Rideshare Drivers United. Picketing and a rally are also planned at Lindbergh Field’s Terminal 1 today.
The drivers are protesting Uber’s announced pan to slash per-mile compensation from 80 cents to 60 cents. They also want both companies to guarantee a $28 minimum wage to drivers, who use and maintain their own vehicles, paying for gas themselves.

May 7, 2019 (Santee) – A driver who seriously injured a pedestrian in Santee has been arrested for a felony hit and run. The accident occurred this morning at 5:03 a.m. at North Magnolia Ave. and Riverview Parkway.
The victim, 32, had been arguing with his brother and jumped out of a vehicle, walking south on North Magnolia in the lanes of travel, according to Lt. Chris Steffen. The brother and his friend tried to talk the man back into the vehicle, when he was struck by another vehicle traveling north on Magnolia.
May 7, 2019 (San Diego) – Get ready for a wet weekend. A storm system could bring heavy rains and thunderstorms to San Diego County Friday through Sunday, the National Weather Service predicts.
The storm could result in minor flooding of roads and creeks in urban and rural areas.
There is a small chance for showers today and tomorrow, with the heaviest rains expected to begin Friday as a low-pressure system reaches Southern California.
May 7, 2019 (Escondido) – Over 25 San Diego County wineries including national and international award-winners will participate in the 2019 Wine Festival. Hosted by the San Diego County Vintner’s Association, this year’s event will be at Sikes Adobe, a historic farmstead in Escondido (12655 Sunset Dr.) on Saturday, May 18 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The festival also includes live music, a silent auction and opportunities to buy wines. Food wil be available from the Quick Stop Grill food truck. He did not list any actions planned to address Otero’s lack of disclosure and transparency.
May 6, 2019 (El Cajon) – The driver of a white Ford Explorer or Expedition SUV fired a shotgun into a vehicle on Los Coches Road in unincorporated El Cajon near the I-8 freeway shortly before midnight last night. Shotgun pellets struck a rear passenger in the face and head.
May 6, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) -- With the coming of spring and warmer weather conditions, snakes of many species are through hunkering down, making human encounters with these elusive creatures more likely. Although most native snakes are harmless, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) recommends giving the venomous rattlesnake a wide berth – and knowing what to do in the event of a strike.
May 6, 2019 (El Cajon) - Firefighters rescued a man in a burning hotel in El Cajon early this morning.
Heartland Fire & Rescue crews from El Cajon, with assistance from Santee Fire and San Miguel Fire, were dispatched to the fire at the Relax Inn in the 1200 block of W. Main Street at 5 a.m. Fire crews arrived within five minutes to discover smoke and fire coming from a downstairs bedroom.

May 5, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) -- East County residents enjoy a great deal of peace and quiet, where it isn’t uncommon for folks to be up and on the roads in the predawn hours heading to work--to farms and livestock, others into the city. Most of the time traffic isn’t an issue and travel is uneventful. This could change with a new bill being considered that would extend the hours of bars and clubs two hours, for a closing time of 4 a.m.

May 3, 2019 (Lemon Grove) – A 14-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle in front of San Miguel Elementary School in Lemon Grove this evening at 6:19 p.m. He was transported via ambulance to Rady Children’s Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, says Sergeant Aaron Montan with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.
