October 11, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) --This week’s Destination East County includes pumpkin patch events at Summers Past Farms and Scotty’s Scare Trail in Flinn Springs, train rides on the Pumpkin Express in Campo, The Laguna Mountain Rendezvous, a chili cookoff for charity in Lemon Grove, and Kids Care Fest in Lakeside.

Plus, we’ll have a preview of coming attractions, including El Cajon’s Haunt Fest on Main, Borrego Days, a Toast to East County, a haunted lodge, a Halloween harvest family festival on Mt. Helix, the Boulevard Boo Parade, a spooky campover at Lions, Tigers and Bears in Alpine, Laurel and Hardy night’s “Hallowscream” in Spring Valley, a Harvest Fest and Plant Sale at the Water Conservation Garden, the Ramona Art and Wine Festival, and live hawk demonstrations at Mission Trails Regional Park.

October 18, 2015 (San Diego's East County) -- This week’s Destination East County includes the 50th annual Borrego Days Desert Festival, Haunt Fest on Main Street, a trick or treat dog show, Lamplighters Theatre production of “Stage Fright,” and a melodrama in Julian titled “Keeping the Doctor Away.

Plus we’ll have previews of coming attractions including a Marshall Scary Scotty’s haunted amusement park trail, the Odeum guitar duo in concert, and much, much more!

Our handy guide will help you find fall festivities and family fun throughout our inland region, from pumpkin patches to harvest events to “haunting” Halloween happenings.

If you have a pumpkin patch, fall parade, or harvest festival event that you would like to have added to our guide, please email ariele@eastcountymagazine.org. Please verify information with the event before heading out.

ALL ABOARD THE PUMPKIN EXPRESS

The 2013 Pumpkin Express returns at the  Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo This is the tenth annual Great Pumpkin event at the Museum.

Travel to the Great Pumpkin's Pumpkin Patch and tour the Haunted Train, where kids will pick out their own pumpkin and decorate it in the display building.

These trains are very popular and seating is limited, so reservations are required. Trains depart Saturdays and Sundays in October at 10 a.m., 12:15 p.m, and 2:30 p.m.

HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR OCT. 26 AT MISSION TRAILS

 

October 16, 2013 (San Diego's East County ) -- The Third Annual Family Friendly Halloween Spooktacular will be presented by renowned storytellers Cynthia Griffin and Mary Holma from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Mission Trails Regional Park Amphitheater. Children are encouraged to come in costume, and each child will receive a bag of Halloween treats.

HAUNTED HALLOWEEN TRAIL HIKE AT DOS PICOS

 

October 29, 2010 (Ramona)--What could be spookier than a haunted hike in the woods?  Dos Picos CountyPark in Ramona is offering a haunted trail hike on Saturday, October 30th at 7:30 and 8 p.m.

 

The scary but kid-friendly trail hikes will include a moderate walk with some hills and uneven surfaces. Younger hikers must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone is encouraged to bring a flashlight.

 

A SPIRITED ADVENTURE: GHOST TOURS IN THE ANZA-BORREGO DESERT

October 27, 2010 (Borrego) – California Overland Desert Excursions invites you to learn about the spirits who roam the desert in a unique, overnight ghost tour on Saturday, October 30th. Spend the night next to a haunted cemetery near a historic stagecoach stop, or opt for an evening-only rate. Historians will relate true tales of people who met their demise along the Southern Overland Trail—and whose restless souls are said to still haunt the region.

October 27, 2010 (Lakeside) – Barona Resort & Casino is getting in the Halloween spirit with the return of its popular Party Pit with a fun trick-or-treat theme. On Saturday, October 30 from 6 p.m. to midnight, table game players will have a chance to win prizes and cash.

October 21, 2010 (Alpine) – Viejas Outlet Center is once again offering a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.  Stores will welcome little ghosts, goblins and parents to participate in this free family event, which runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.
