August 9, 2016 (San Diego) - San Diego State women’s tennis head coach Peter Mattera revealed his team’s schedule for the 2016-17 campaign on Tuesday. The Aztecs will play host to three fall tournaments before opening the dual-match season in late January.

July 28, 2016 (New Orleans) - San Diego State was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team selection on Thursday. Led by Kassidy Ellis, Alexa Evans and Ellison Grove, the Aztecs finished the 2016 campaign with a 3.07 cumulative GPA.

June 13, 2016 (New Orleans) - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today that six San Diego State athletes have been named All-Americans due to their performance at the last stop of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship last week in Eugene, Oregon.

March 30, 2016 (San Diego) -- On April 15, 2016 at 7:30 PM, San Diego State's top orchestral and premier wind ensembles join forces with the 120-voice chamber and concert choirs on the stage at the Jacobs Music Center at Copley Symphony Hall to present a mega-concert experience. Downtown features more than 250 musicians performing works by Wagner, Vaughan Williams, and Beethoven from the School of Music and Dance, this is a program that Jim Chute of UT San Diego called a "powerhouse."

Update November 15, 2015: SDSU now confirms that all 34 of its students in France are safe.

November 14, 2015 (San Diego) – San Diego State University confirms that at least 31 of its 34 students in France are safe, including all eight students studying in Paris.  “The other three are in southern France and we are actively reaching out to them, their coordinators and our partner universities,” a press release issued by SDSU today states.

However a student from Long Beach State University is among the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris yesterday.  “We are saddened by the tragic events…Our thoughts go out to the victims loved ones and the entire Long Beach community,” the SDSU statement adds.

November 11, 2015 (San Diego)--San Diego State University will host several events this week, leading up to its nationally televised homecoming football game against the Wyoming Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Qualcomm Stadium.

Aztecs of all ages are invited back to campus to share in SDSU's Aztec pride with weeklong Homecoming 2015 events and are invited to follow the hashtag #SDSUHomecoming2015 on Twitter and Instagram.

September 30, 2015 (San Diego) - Two San Diego State students are in danger of losing their rights to attend SDSU for displaying patriotic flags.

Cameron Box, an active duty Coast Guard member, and Connor Fenwick, who is in the Army ROTC, proudly display the U.S. Coast Guard flag, an Army flag and the American flag from the balcony of their on-campus housing unit at San Diego State.  However, the school is threatening to expel them, citing a “fire hazard”, also claiming that the flags “block visibility.”

May 6, 2015 (San Diego) -- For the first time in more than 40 years, the SDSU Debate Team has placed as a team in the National Forensics Association Tournament. The team of Vincent Bellinghiere, Cody Meza, and Darron DeVillez, represented Aztec Forensics at the NFA tournament at Ohio University and placed 8th in Division III, competing in literature interpretation and platform speeches.

“Hundreds of universities across the nation compete in intercollegiate individual events, and only a select number qualify to compete at the national tournament,” said Bill Snavely, director of the School of Communication. “This is a great accomplishment for only three competitors against much more well-funded programs from across the country.”

May 2, 2015, 2015 (SDSU Montezuma Hall) - The Conrad Prebys Student Center at San Diego State University was filled on Earth Day, April 22, as Winona LaDuke took the stage dwarfed by the giant screen depicting the past splendor and future possibilities of her native White Earth Nation.  In the language of the Anishinaabe she brought greetings and recounted the Ojibwa names for the months or moons noting that not one of them was named after a Roman Emperor.

December 6, 2014 – Those of us who love musicals know the importance of the storyline. But it’s the music that expresses the power, the grief, and the love that make Les Miserables the world’s longest running musical.  

SDSU’s School of Theatre, Television and Film has teamed up with the School of Music and Dance to present “Les Miserable, the Concert” – a lavish production focused on music, not stagecraft, with nearly 200 musical performers on stage throughout the evening.  This production is like skipping to the good parts without missing the plot.  A final performance will be held Sunday, December 7^th at 2 p.m.  (For tickets visit http://ttf.sdsu.edu/.)

November 25, 2014 (San Diego) -- Today, San Diego State University has issued a statement indicating that fraternities  on campus are suspending all activities indefinitely due to recent sexual assaults on campus, including a rape at a frat house over the weekend--the seventh sexual assault on campus since the fall semester began.  Leaders of the Greek groups on campus pledged that they will “immediately take proactive steps toward addressing this extremely serious issue and the Greek community's role in it."
