
January 15, 2014 (Borrego Springs) -– With the help of Borrego Springs volunteers, a retired California State Park Ranger will watch his dream come true January 23 – 26 when the curtain goes up on the first Annual Borrego Springs Film Festival.
Fred Jee, a former ranger at the Anza Borrego State Park, started collecting historical data of movies shot in and around the little desert community early in his 34-year-career. “As it turned out, Borrego Springs’ involvement in the silver screen dates back nearly to the infancy of the film industry”, Jee explained. “It seemed only natural that someday the community should have its own festival to commemorate this association.”


















April 2, 2013 (Borrego Springs) – The Colorado Desert Archaeology Society (CDAS) will be holding its 10th Annual Archaeology Weekend on April 6-7, 2013 from 9:00 to 5:00 at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Visitor Center in Borrego Springs, California. CDAS is a volunteer group that works with the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to document, preserve and protect its cultural resources.
January 23, 2013 (Borrego Springs) – Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a body found inside a burned truck in Vallecito County Regional Park. 
April 4, 2011 (Borrego) – San Diego Sheriff’s communication center received a call on Thursday from a woman in Mammoth Lakes whose husband and a friend were hiking off Rockhouse Trail in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The two hikers called the woman from a satellite phone because the husband’s friend had become severely dehydrated, incoherent, and in immediate need of medical attention.
January 16, 2011 (Borrego Springs) – Famed night-sky photographer Dennis Mammana announces a series of photography classes and lectures in Borrego Springs in January, February and March, plus a celestial overnight campout in the Anza-Borrego desert January 29-30.
